Project Cars 2 is en route :D

Been playing this a fair bit over the last day or so and i am mighty impressed with it. If any of you lot have triple monitors including ones with varying resolutions and or sizes the game allows it : https://gyazo.com/d34b22fc3fce3eb6862ffce1326aa657 My setup is 24" (1080) - 27" (1440) - 24" (1080) and to be honest the setup was an absolute doddle. Sure a few lines were not quite in the right place but a bit of tweaking and i think it'll be fine. The best bit is the fact this was all done in game, no messing with 3rd party software.

I had a G27 a long time ago and there is a big difference imo.

Personally though I don’t think a wheel will make you go quicker, it just feels much nicer to use, force feedback and the feel of it is just much smoother. It’s a better experience but not a race winner.

As for pedals, I went for the optional loadcell brake and personally this is where I think you can shave time off the lap, the brake feels much more like a real car, you can be more precise with it. My braking had improved a lot with it already.

Am I happy with the purchase? Yes, is it a big improvement? Yes. Will you magically become so so much quicker? No.

If you feel this is a bit too much of a lump to pay then maybe look at a Thrustmaster T300 with T3PA pedals, another nice wheel and is quite cheap on the BT store.

Yeah I'm not looking to go faster, I'm just wanting to get more immersion. I will be getting an Oculus Rift later this year and the next level wheel stand too. The Thrustmaster T300 RS GT does seem like a nice wheel and pedal set, I am considering it :)

Really enjoying this too, just started the career mode and currently running races with the Ginetta junior. Found some funny bugs that no doubt will be patched soon. In the Ginetta turn off the wipers and the wiper sound keeps going (not sure if other cars have this bug). Also, get some crash damage, restart the race and the exterior view still shows the crash damage. I haven't bothered with Jack Spade's FFB tweak yet, the RAW setting works pretty well on my Fanatec CSW. I noticed some of the GT3 cars have better out of the box FFB than others, e.g. the Audi RS6 is a real blast around the Sugo circuit in Japan.

Does the T300 have the belt noise when the wheel is turned? I bought a T150 for my stepdad and it goes vrrrr when it turns, whereas my G27 is silent.
T150 is a hybrid belt cog system whereas the t300 is belt only. My t300 dosnt go vrrrrr when you turn it.
I keep looking at osw direct drive wheels and trying to convince myself I don't need one.

OK thanks, no need to upgrade yet I keep telling myself. Plenty of life left in mine, but have never tried anything better.
I had a t150 before the t300 and the main difference is smoothness with the t150 you could feel the notches in the cog, but for £100 It's a cracking wheel. What I disliked about it was the plastic 28cm rim it was ok just not great, then I got the 30cm ferrari 599 Alacantra rim and boy it's nice it feels like a racing car wheel rather than a toy.

So is anyone going to step up and sort out a weekly OC time trial thing like there was for F1 2016 ? Someone chooses a car/track/weather/time of day combo and we all see who can get the best time for the week !

Just about every other sim I've played and watching other people online.

I can have my foot flat to the floor in the Ginetta coming out of T1 at Knockhill sideways in the wet and it won't spin. I ran some laps in the GT3s yesterday and it felt the same. The cars seem almost impossible to spin unless I get on the grass.

Nothing you can do, they made driving in wet weather way too easy. You can mash the throttle coming out of any second gear corner and the rear is completely planted.... this during thunderstorm weather. Locking up is also really hard to do in heavy rain. The only things you need to worry about in the rain are puddles and a bit of low speed understeer here and there.

Only way too have some fun is to use soft slick tyres in thunderstorm weather, that way you actually need throttle control and can go sideways as much as you please... obviously this is redundant for racing as you’ll be ridiculously slow compared to if you use wet tyres but for messing about in testing it’s quite amusing.
