Project Cars 2 is en route :D

As a PC1 owner who feels like I got my fingers burned, how is this better?

Not followed PC2 development at all as I thought PC1 was left in a complete mess and I suspected the management/dev team were incompetent.

Devs give choice and you think that is a bad thing? How?

Surely that is the choice of the server admin what settings he chooses?

They should have had a skill/license based matchmaking service with license enforced by default and then let custom lobbies have the option to enable or disable. That’s the proven way to build a community of clean and competitive racing.

Leaving it all down to the community is horrible and results in it being near impossible to find competitive racing. You have to just get lucky and hope the lobby you join has people of same skill level (which pretty much never happens if you’re half decent). The standard of racing is generally awful relative to likes of iRacing and Assetto Coras’s SRS system and this is purely because of the lack of skill/license based matchmaking.

For people who are used to Forza, F 1 games etc or public lobbies in AC you may think it’s fine but that’s because you’ve not experienced how much better sim racing can be with good matchmaking based on skill/license.

As it stands the license system is widely viewed as a failure and the standard of racing is generally awful relative to likes of iRacing and Assetto Coras’s SRS system.

PC2 is just easier to pick up and play compared to others.

iRacing, you need to spend regular money on. Assetto Corsa and its menus are horrid.

With PC2 even for relative noobs its so much easier to get into an online game.

Every race I've been in has been a darn sight better than my PC1 experience and even on qualifying the majority of people are courteous.

So far improvements seem to be positive although the league thing is still a bit hit and miss. When creating a league why do I have to select the cars for the people i'm inviting? Surely it should be up to them to choose what they want to race with and then lock down.

well said.

Tried this in VR yesterday, it's an entirely different experience. Especially sitting in the seat of open-wheel racers.

What you just don't experience on a monitor is the sense of scale. Sitting in that tiny car looking up at the stands with all the people looking down at you is quite intimidating :D

had a quick blast on this just now, MAN has it got dirty!! had 2 games and it wasn't very enjoyable AT ALL :( this was my fave racer for some time, now people are hitting me on purpose, not just on the corners but on the straights

infuriating! I don't mind the odd accidental rub or crash but when its blatantly intended it grips my poop!

What's your rating?

My rating wasn't too bad a few months ago,but after a few hrs play and getting crashed into all the time, its now VERY low,im into the U class rating! its so hard getting it back up as well as every race I enter I'm getting smashed into :(

I hate the way it penalises you even if someone crashes into the back of you or side swipes you.

They have to be impartial as there is no way you could ever rely on a computer to assign blame, there are way too many variables and if you only assigned blame to the person who hits you from behind then that opens an entire world of murky exploits and trolling where people can just brake check on straights etc to screw peoples license.
