PROJECT: MAGNUS AQUA DOMUS!

Rough pic before I move it into better lighting ready for leak testing:

The PSU isn't going to be a permanent fixture, I did have a braided cable kit for it ordered but got no less then 3 wrong or cancelled orders from various retailers, in the end I just gave it up. Plus any braiding I want to do on a full modular unit rather then semi-modular :)

Just about to start the nervy part - filling 'er up.

Just leak testing now, found my first leak....bridge between two GPU's, knew I should have used compressions and a bit of tubing, the slight hang from the bottom card gives enough to pull the connector at an angle, temp fixed it will cable ties to hold the card up just now, not pretty but it works.

I would have changed it if I hadn't already put 2L of mayhems into it. May just grab one of those powercolor jack-bar things.

Most. Retarded. Fault. Ever.

Since I'm using dual cards, my motherboard has a 6pin PCI connector to give the PCI lanes a little extra juice. I plugged that in to see if it helps.

Unplugged it, all is well

Now to figure out why one of my hard drives isn't showing.

I've noticed on the UD7 it has two 8 pin plugs on the board. Any need to power them both?

Nope purely for looks/sub zero cooling as it allows better power draw or something, Xpower II has a pair of 8 pins too while most ROG boards have an 8+4 setup. I only have both plugged in as my PSU has two EPS cables, saves one going to waste :o

Idling along nicely, CPU and both GPU's sitting around 20c, can't figure out which ones the VRM bank yet.

Mine never showed neither, just went into disk management and assigned it a letter.

Think it was 8pack i asked about 2 eps plugs, think he said plug em both in which will help spread the load on the vrm's which will help a little when oc'ing, sure it will be the same for any board hat has that feature.

Sorted, was either the ICY BOX or the nasty ass phobya sata cables, either way I jumped in a new cable and its picking it up now!

Looks like you're well on your way with this build. Will be interesting to see what speeds you can eek! out of those cards.

What about those two sata power ports on the UD7. Any point in powering them up? Somthing to do with providing extra power to the Pcie lanes.

I would usually say yes, but my alternative of that (6pin PCI power) just makes my system not post :p

More pics incoming, just going to have a quick game and check everything is fine :)

Glad to hear it, I didn't get chance to try multi cards on it.

Well everything at stock, I'm not seeing temps anywhere above 32c :D

gaming tonight, tuning/benching tomorrow, as its at 3.8ghz, 1600mhz C11 & 1010/1375mz atm and quite probably with the PCI lanes set to legacy rather than Gen3 :o

Tomorrows aim? 5ghz, 2200mhz C10 & as close to 1400/1900 as I can :D

Just re-sizing some pics now, the side isn't on yet so any requests/clearer shots I can take another day.

Yep, I'm exhausted tbh, its far too big to build on a table so I've been on the floor for a good 7+ hours today.

Btw, those temps are with the system 100% passive :o

I've just realised how noisy mechanical drives are!!

Yep, it lets you alternate between 2.0 & 3.0 which it usually sets at default of 2.0 (or legacy as it may be called), shouldn't really make that much difference tbh.

Yep I should have little bother smashing 1.5v out of the CPU and 1.4v on the GPU's (benching only).

Picture time!!!!!!!!!!!

The 1080 mounting and holes I cut for better tube routing:

VRM area tube routing, this part to the most planning, around 90mins just on those tubes alone:

Will snap some more tomorrow as I need to pin in some more cables

I'll be adding lighting later down the line, as there are a few things I want to change, the front 140mm fans (had to mod some antec true-quiets, now the grind on the case), the leaky card bridge and possibly some pastel fluid and probably a new PSU.

I may measure up to make a plate for cable coverage when I change the above.

:D

120mm I'm using OcUK Tech Lab (Zaward Golf III) and 140mm Antec true-quiet's, though I'll be replacing these sooner rather then later.

The case is an absolute giant but it has its flaws, mostly around cable management.

I'll be having a better play with the motherboard today, it should be fine, reviews rate it as good and in some cases slightly better then the rive :)

It's also snowing today, must be a sign to do some extreme benching.

Doing quite well so far, only problem with the board thus far is lack of decimal while applying base clock. Though so far its at 104 (129mhz on 1.25 strap). Memory is holding up nicely with little input so far, retaining C9 for 1720mhz.

Next, push the multipliers on both CPU and RAM ;)

Edit: Not bad for a few mins work

5ghz.jpg

Edit: Time to read up on sammy greens, and possibly a new bios, I can only set a minimum of 1.5150v for dram voltage, no biggie as I don't mind it sitting at 1.5v. Though 2000mhz @ C11 1.5v is crashing on post

Yep thats just for benching, I'll leave it around 4.6ghz for 24/7.

I'm going to fish around for a better bios before I push it any further, the base doesn't like being at 104 as soon as I push the memory in any way on that base it will crash or fail to post so going to drop down to 103 for now.

Cheers Rossi, I'll put them up to 1.65v until I find a sweet spot then try take it down a touch :)

5ghz under prime was hitting ~60c, 4.3ghz was around 52c, so I do have the thermal headroom to go above 5ghz, just need to keep the voltages in check.
