Project Marshlands: A Military Themed Build..

this is looking stunning dude, you are really going to town on this :D, love it!

Thanks for the lovely comment jonnyp1993

Those backplates are pure awesome, cant wait to see this finished! I have a sabertooth 990fx in my machine, and im so tempted to steal some of your ideas

Hi Halestorm, feel free to use anything you wish.. :)

This build just keeps getting better and better. Brilliant idea on the backplates, it really finished off the cards. What thickness is that plexiglass and where did you get it from?

Hi DJ_Bucho, the plexiglass is 3mm thick and purchased from "sheetplastics"..

How is the plexiglass mounted to the GPU's? (I'm assuming some double sided tape).

Yes, it's 3mm double sided tape, just stuck the corners.. ;)

this is a stunning build... this is the reason i want to do my own project all i wanted was a gaming pc as ive never had one and now im £3000 quid down haha :P

What do you mean? Did you buy a prebuilt for £3000?

What are the measure ments for the 470 backplates? I am guessing you need them to order from that website.
Also, stunning build mate, can't wait to see it's finished.

Hi, if I remember correctly I measured them at 100mm x 240mm

.................................

Finally got a bit of an update... :)

It was about time I got the case filled with something so I started with the rads and tube res.. The tube res is by no means set to go there, just playing around with some ideas at the moment..

Anyway, here we go..

.....and the bigger picture.. ;)

no i fancied a gaming pc as ive always been console....so i drove up to overclockers and ended up spending just shy of 2000 quid lol. then i joined the forums and went on the project page and well ... now ive spent another £1000 on watercooling plus a bigger case and cable braiding ect :P. anyway thankyou for showing your build it is truly amazing :D

This is looking absolutely superb, I can't wait to see it with the Motherboard installed and everything connected up. Possibly my favourite build on this whole site. Keep up the outstanding quality of work :D

thanks for these lovely comments everyone, gives my heart a little flutter to come back to read them.. ;)

Keenan are you going to dip your psu as well?
Looks really good mate.

Nope, but something better....I hope ;)

.............

Had a little bit of time today and started on the .... wait, it should be quite noticeable from the rough "blueprint" ..

I just read through your log, just wanted to say its very impressive work you are doing and I look forward to seeing more. Subbed

One question...Will you been doing something to blend in the securing screws on the Rad ?

I've got a few ideas.. ;)

I'm astounded by this log. I have hated this case ever since I first saw it, but you've gone a long way in showing me how good it can look!

Can't wait to see the end result, love that camo transfer.

Thanks for the nice comment..

Excellent project! I look forward to updates!!

Will try to get some more done over the weekend.. ;)

Got a better camera and thought I'd post a few better photos.. ;)

Ok, I left the glue to harden over night and did a quick test fit this morning..

Perfect fit.. :D

Thinking I should widen the the two "damaged" parts on the case opening side to join them together..

Once again guys, thanks for the lovely inspiring comments..

Meoricin, I'm just using 4 tiny squares of double-sided tape, makes them removable without any tape of stickiness remaining on the card..

Have you taped the plate on to the screws, or hard on to the corners?

Hi, could you explain the question please.. I have no idea what you're asking.. :(

Holy crap this is a sweet build dude. Mind me asking what camera you are using? For 60 quid you are still getting some epic shots :D

Hi, up untill a few weeks ago it was a finepix f5000 if I recall correctly..

I was asking about how you stuck the backplate on to the graphics card. It looks stunning, but I wondered how it was stuck on to the card.

I was thinking that the tape was maybe stuck on to the screws that hold the GPU on to the PCB, or am I totally wrong?

Hi, all I did was cut 4 small (10p) sized pieces and stuck them as closevto the corners as possible..

Hope that helps..

Looks amazing, you are very talented.

Upgrading any components will be a major task though! lol

Thanks OracIe..

Upgrading would be grounds for a new project then.. ;)

Just read through the log. Not my favourite theme but it looks amazing. Gutted its not finished yet!

Hi Staffy50, thanks for the kind words, I've got some time on my hands this coming week, so hoping to get a few more things done..

I hope to have some more updates later today, but for the time being I will have to leave you in the care of my adorable little project mascot..

Got a bit of an update..

After debating an what would be the best color to match "Military Green" I have finally got some results!!

First I did a light basecoat..

Than a second coat and some weathering..

A quick test fit for color matching..

Remember this..?

It now looks like this.. ;)

...and this..

Final results.. Hope you guys like it.. :)

Saw your first couple of posts when you first put them up, but haven't looked back since until now!

Some fantastic work, loving the PSU cover and GPU backplates.

My only gripe so far, is that the radiators look out of place - using the desert-style camo when the rest is green/black... just doesn't look quite right to me.

I'm sure though you've got an overall plan for it, and I'm prepared to eat my words when I see the finished product... but, for me, right now... not feeling the lighter colours on the rads.

The rads/res will also get a bit more weathering.. The photos were taken in pretty bad ambient light so I had to ramp up the exposure to get the detail on the PSU cover what you see on the rads is far more detailed to the naked eye..

I'll try to redo the .raw with less exposure and see if I can get a better result on the rad..

Ok, here are the final pictures with a bit less exposure to show the overall look of the theme rather than the detail on the PSU cover..

Well, I've just encountered my first real snag in this build.. The top radiator is too wide for the motherboard to fit in the case..

Because it's a really old rad it's around 145mm wide, so the space between the back of the rad and the motherboard tray is very limited..

Time to get a new rad I guess :(
