Project: Need your thoughts/ideas

i need a peice 39.5 x 17cm, so its a bit akward, unless i make it the right size for the mesh, i was planning on making most of the bottom mesh, however , i cut a similar sized hole in an old case to see how it would fair structurally and it wasnt pretty. lots of flexing so im gonna go with the little window size idea, keeping the orignial case feet holes and most of the original panel, and hopefully most of its strength, im gonna cut a peice of mesh to the exact same size as the hole , then cut a trim which will overlap the mesh and original case on the underneath, this will make the the mesh sit almost flush with the original case floor hopefully.

is the mesh uve got similar thickness to case panel?

Would you guys suggest me implementing a reset button onto the front panel or do I not need it?
Not a must - just useful to have one if you can make room for it and it doesn't clutter the front!

You got any more pics Mish?

Could always use power button anyway, I'll see if I got space. Not done anything yet mate, going to very soon though just preparing to drill need to creat ventilation for the case fan at the front and do a few other things. Should have some soon :)

Not finished yet but thought I would upload some pictures for you to laugh at, edges are very rough after the cutting done below but should be smooth in no time just working on it now:

:D

Ok just finished cutting out the 80mm fan sections and made a new one at the front, all the fan openings are now ready, they just need filing down and smoothened. I'm quite pleased with how this has gone today, making steady progress spent three quarters of an hour on it today - measuring and cutting. Just need to fit the mesh to the front and rear and I can begin spraying the inside, and panels. I have decided to leave the fan filter silver in the pictures below, the frame frame of the case is going to be white anyway and I think it will complement it well.

You do, especially when it all plans out well. You just have to make sure you measure more than once and do things carefully. There isn't much that can go wrong really. I'm not looking forward to spraying mine though!! (nervous!) :(

I sprayed an old case bay cover few days ago, even that didn't look even. I think the technique is to just do many light timid sprays rather than heavy direct sprays. Thats what I have been advised to do anyway.

if your using a can use a left to right motion a go 8>12" from the case... if the can spits shacke it more..
also warming the can up in some warm water works a treat for stopping paint specs.
also make sure you get the right primer for the paint if you want a perfect coat.. priming should give you some good practice

Good advice that! Just be patient and take your time!

A couple of my cases took 3-4 days to fully prime, coat and lacquer! And i was rushing!

Looking good though Mish! Like the silver fan filters! ;) :D

;) Nice those aren't they thanks for them mate, going to slot one on the very top of the case (will paint that one black) and that can disperse the hot air that rises. Not sure whether to fit a fan or just leave a filter there, if I do fit a fan though its going to be a low speed one.

Yeah - something like a Scythe 800rpm or something! Let me know - might have a fan to suit!

Anyway... stop bumming about on the forum... get out there and paint!!! ;)

I've decided not to have a fan mounted on the roof of the case even though its a sensible idea. The metal used on this case is quite thick and it is could for low noise so the more openings I have the more noise I will hear. I can always sort it out afterwards if I change my mind. All the sanding has been done now, and the fan openings I cut yesterday have been smoothened down for a better finish. So I think I am ready for a spray.

These are my ideas so far:

  • Chassis (2nd image) - White
  • Panels (Side, front, roof) - Black
  • Motherboard tray - Black

What do you think? Want you're opinions please!

Looks good from here. Would love to see what a white interior looks like, I can imagine it being very nice indeed. Will make to components stand out nicely; give it a wow-factor.
