Project Radster - Case Labs S8

Ofc it wasn't, I'm not a noob, just very unlucky :(
Onnly thing connected was pump, mobo cable had this connector thingy on, the one which immitates motherboard connection.
As for not giving up...
I spent well over 700£ for watercooling bits for this loop.
I think I'll give it a go some time, maybe next time I decide to upgrade, but for now I'll have to pass.
I need a working pc and can't afford not having one.

Hey guys

I gave it some more thought and decided to give it one last try.
It depends on few things though, like if I can get a replacement pump/res combo and if nothing got damaged. It will probably take some time and I won't be posting updates in the meantime, but I will let you know if there is any progress.

The reason why I decided to try once more was because I knew that watercooling is an itch, an upgrade bug and it would come back to me eventually. Then I would have to buy everything all over again, If i sold it now. So I'll keep these bits a bit longer and see how it goes.

Thanks again

Bart

Glad to see your going to give it another go, I'm looking forward to seeing how this turns out.

One thing I can tell you is that I will be doing something weird.
I will be using pci-e slots nr 1 and 4 or 5 for gpu's and won't be using ek bridge.
Ek bridge was the root of the problem with air lock.
It restricted flow a lot and I coldn't see one of the blocks properly, so couldn't determine where exactly air lock was.
If I put the cards further away, I will be able to see a lot more and tube won't be blocking view as much as bridge was.

So that's it for now.
I'll let you know if there is any progress.

Thats the spirit Bart, back up and at em:D

Well, I have really bad luck.
On gpu is dead.
By dead I mean its artefacting and cause screen tearing and colors are weird.
I tried it with different PCI-E slots, with same result. This was the card overheating due to the airlock.
Not sure what to do about warranty now, thought it is EVGA card. Send it to Overclockers or straight to EVGA?
Second card looks fine so far /touch wood.
Motherboard and CPU are both ok.
I spent whole morning making sure that there is not a single drop or even residue on motherboard, around heatsinks and other hard to get parts.

From watercooling parts, I cleaed and dried all the blocks, rads and fittings so no loss there, but pump is also dead. No idea why it died to be honest.

So overall loss is 500£, I'll see if I can RMA gpu and pump and what will happen. I hope I can get a replacement gpu, but I have mixed feelings about it. Any of you have any experience of RMAing watercooled gpu?

Anyway, gtg.
Need to stress test the gpu a bit.
Idle temps look ok, but I am a bit worried what happens under load.
So I'll go play ESO on max settings for a while and see how it goes.

If the GPU is EVGA you should be ok - contact ocers support in the first instance perhaps? afaik EVGA do not void warranty for w ater cooled cards. Both GPU and pump should be replaced under warranty.

Thanks Tom.

Mark, I contacted OCuk but they just told me I voided the warranty.
No reply about the pump yet. I posted on support forums, lets see what happens.

That is not what I understood to be the case, but as suggested below - you may have to contact EVGA on this issue. As I said before, afaik EVGA do not void warranty on GPU's fitted with waterblocks - maybe post on the evga forum on here and ask the question?

Maybe somebody else on here can chime in and confirm the situation with EVGA and water blocks?

Sure you will get it sorted, one way or the other - even if it takes more work etc.

Sorry I can't be of more help buddy.

Mark

Ps Bart - have a look in the graphics card forum/evga support thread. There is a post there where the rep says they do not cover water damage, but if you re fit the air cooler - you should
be able to rma it, as they do not void warranty for removing the heatsink - if you get my drift?

Hope this helps

Hey guys

There was a small misunderstanding and I received RMA numbers both for the gpu and the pump, so they are on the way to OCuk.
I really hope everything will be fine.
I'll make an update when I know anything.

That's more like it - thought something odd was going on. Good luck and hope you get it sorted soon.
