Project Reality v1 finally here

We normally start about 5/6ish in the evening. Just jump on TS and we will get your mumble set up if you haven't already then go join a server and show you the ropes.

PR has graphic improvements as well afaik, it makes BF2 look damn sexy. Not 100% if I am correct by saying that but it looks a lot better to me, which probs accounts for the file size as well. Unless they did some other magic.

Yeah they use a lot of their own textures and models which accounts for a large proportion of the size!

I downloaded this this morning, and hopefully will get it installed this evening (if my toddler son allows me to...)

Will have to try to find my 360 controller and headset and gfet on voice, though I've not seen either since we moved house so I might struggle.

Is there a role for a suppport/suppressing gunner? That's what I play in BF3 and I'd love to play something where it really makes a difference to the team and helps them out!!!

Well that's me finished with it before I even started..

Been at this for hours and still no go, furthest I get it is to see the splash screen then back to desktop or the debug assertion window if I start in windowed mode...

One last thing, if anyone plays with an ATI/AMD card mind looking in your profiles folder and sending me the whole profile, make sure there is no password or email please.

Thanks

Is it only a limited number of roles per server or some such thing?

Kind of.

Basically, each squad (max number of players in a squad is 8) is limited to one kit each of the specialist classes, except for medic, which two is allowed per squad. Standard rifleman kit is unlimited.

Prior to this release some specialist kits were limited to the whole team of 32, for example...sniper kit. If memory serves I think the whole team were only allowed two, so it was first come first served. I'm unsure of the sniper limit now the new release is with us and the player max has increased to 50 players per team.

Of course, if a squad mate has a certain kit and you find a fallen comrade with the same kit, yes you can pick it up and use it. But when your squad mate snuffs it and tries to spawn back in, he won't be able to select his kit again as the system sees that you've already got it.

Did you receive any help from the PR forums? Bare with it, we'll get you up and running...I hope.

This is just one of those games that is so hopelessly boring without friends or people on the server communicating with you. :p

You're kind of right there.

For one, the game's requirement for voice comms pretty much should rule out people not communicating with you, but we all know that's not the case, especially after a sudden influx of noobs to the game.

The whole game can be boring if you allow it to be, for example....

If you're in a motor squad you may be asked to run ammo, so all you're doing is reloading the motor tubes or driving back to base for creates. However, a good squad leader should rotate duties so nobody gets bored.

The same squad leader may ask you to select a sniper kit and send you out spotting for enemy targets with the instructions of 'do not engage unless fired upon'. Even as the motor operator you're essentially just dialing in numbers into a screan, but you're also racking up the kills (if your received intel is good) which alleviates the boredom somewhat.
The above roles are very important but there's a chance of playing the whole round without firing your gun. But hey, this is Ronseal Woodstain and therefor all players should be aware it's not a shoot-em up fest from start to finish.

As I said earlier in the thread, to get the most out of this game you have to do your bit by playing the part. By that I mean you need to immerse yourself into it. The more players around you that do so, the more realistic it becomes.

You absolute dancer...

Got BF2 working, changed my cable from a dual DVI cable for 120Hz to a standard HDMI cable, deleted my BF2 profile folder and it worked first time..
