Goddam..

Eventually got time to install it, goes to black screen and the back to desktop..

Tried all the fixes I could find..

Changed the screen res, disabled sound, ran under xp, admin etc. Anyone got any other ides?

They have an excellent support section on their forums www.realitymod.com

It'll be nothing, it's just sussing out which nothing it is.

I know what you meant, and still urge you to go to their support section. They WILL help you.

However, as has been said above....have you patched BF2 with 1.41 & 1.50 patches? If not, well that's your problem.

Yep.

All patched up, 1.41 was on the disk and I d/loaded 1.50..

Going to try another graphics driver and see how that goes.

Its a refresh rate problem or could be, try changeing it or use refreshforce and add 800 x 600 at both 60 and 80, as bf2 trys to run intro movies at a different rate.

Changed everything I can find..

Tried it in window mode and got the error that appears, a config error problem.

A bit more searching and it is possibly down to using a dvi cable, god knows how..

Looks like I am screwed

Did you play any of bf2 at all? maybe fire that up first and then try PR, i know clutching at straws but what the hey..

Doesn't work at all, this is plain Vanilla BF2 I am trying to launch...

Can someone send me their video.con file from their profile within the my docs folder please.

You can make one with notepad and just change the extension, here is mine:

yeh i think its a refresh problem, he needs to set correct resoutution in profile as bf2 old game and uses 800x600 by default.

Marker thats likely because dx9 isnt installed, I had a similar issue with anothergame. I just uploaded the dx9 installer (can be a pain to find as the MS site links you to their installer that tells you that you have a higher version installed.

Changed res to match screen settings, change refresh rate on screen to 60, 75, 59 and changed the video.con file to match.

Will try the dx9 and see how it goes.

Let us know the file errors, from what I found when looking its corrupted files. So maybe we could host the working ones we have.

Did you ask at the PR forums?

They really do know what they're talking about...they've been dismantling BF2 and putting it back together as Project Reality for the past 8 years. They know it inside out, basically.

This is just one of those games that is so hopelessly boring without friends or people on the server communicating with you.
