it does run the risk of looking a little barry boy, far too many "hot" hatches with that sort of thing bolted one....

Still its totally excusable as its actually performance related :)

I guess so, mine was £250 fitted and I suppose not quite so...extravagant :D

Was that for a 3" system though? TBH I didn't really want to have such a bling exhaust system, I would have happily taken a more subtle 3" system with a smaller tailpipe, but like I said I was getting quotes of nearly £400 for a 3" system.

Then I saw this one on the bay for £250 so went for it. Somewhat bizzarely it also came with a 2.5" decat, so I'll be able to make a bit back from that, about £50 I reckon.

No, just 2.5" I think it hudden under the bumper. I did actually say to the guy I didn't want it too loud though ;)
 
Ahh that'll be why then, 3" systems are more expensive. I would have been happy to keep my Apexi with 2.5" piping, but to do a turbo setup properly you need 3" pipework, 2.5" systems strangle top-end power.
 
Always liked your car drexel, all the engine stuff looks top notch too and in double quick time!

However, not a fan of the 'zorst as it stands, looks way OTT imo. But as you've said it was significantly cheaper. Functionality over looks :D
 
OK, after fighting with the circlip on my SSQV (I swear that thing is designed by satan himself :( ) I finally got it done and just drove the car today for the first time. I didn't get the chance to have the decat made up so it's still on an open downpipe, and my god it's loud. I mean seriously, uncomfortably loud, the open downpipe ends just under the driver cabin and resonates around the whole car, it's almost painfull. I can't wait to get the exhaust connected to it tomorrow......

Other than that the car is driving nicely. As I've mentioned already, it's still on a basemap so I can't give it any boost, but it drives fine. It's a bit too rich when cold so stutters a bit, but when warmed up it's perfectly drivable, apart from the noise of the open downpipe.....

So, still to do:

- Screamer pipe/Dumptube (waiting on some flexi-tube to work out a route for it).
- Get decat made up and fitted.
- Get it mapped.

I was amazed at how easily the bumper fitted on with the IC in place. I just had to trim a small bit from the bottom and it bolted right on :cool:

BTW don't expect the engine to be all bling and shiny at Japfest. It looks cleaner in pics than it really is :o
