Well no one can accuse you of skimping on parts!

I fitted new rear pads to mine on Wednesday, they are dead today and need replacing :D

Haha that is hardcore, but were they made of cake?

Really surprised to see the brake disc backing plates in very good condition, those can't be original surely!?

I thought they looked in average condition at best, but I don't have much experience with seeing many of these. They pretty much looked like that and are going to get some wire brushing to get them as flat as possible.

Nice parts, whats the thought process behind the decision on the brands of disc and pads or is it a recomended set up on ITR-DC2?

Always good to get some reccommendations and read up pn others views, but that certainly wasn't taken as gospel as I know better than to do that, the interwebs isn't always right :D

Both TGM and PA reccommended SPC/Eibach parts and they seem to have actually had some engineering gone into them rather than mass produced parts with fancy Buddyblub/skunk/D2 labels stuck to them.

Went for Nipparts TREs etc as Honda parts are silly priced these days.

Brakes, disks blanks will be fine, and I'm not racing so won't need anything larger. So good quality blanks (cheaper than honda), with brembos on the front do the job nicely. Spent my money on good long lasting fluid and Carbone lorraine pads. Not many have tried these, most harp on about Ferrodo and Hawks (which get very mixed reviews) and CL pads get great write ups, so tried these slightly less agressive and dusty RC5+ more suited to the road.

Just general engineering logic really, with some sound advice and then some research too.

Agree with the fanboy stuff, i've fallen for it myself, Skunk2 LCA's I didnt even bother fitting them just sold them on as unused

Reason I asked is i'm looking at changing the brakes on my car as they are awful and as you are an ITR owner doing all this work and on ITR-DC2 I knew for a fact you would have OCD'd everything before buying, I think i'm just going to go for EBC blanks with red stuff pads when they are due on mine though

I have Dixcel pads and disks on mine, quite a combo but no way am I splashing out on them again come renewal. Ridiculous moleh.

You got a part number for those UCAs? Where did you order from? Think they are the most solid looking UCAs ive seen.

Ye, unfortunately most car owners and clubs sufer from fanboi products etc that people buy blindly. Not all bad but you have to be careful. I remember seeing enough threads of certain brands of camber arms and the state of their bushes after x-months (or complete lack of anything left) and things such as bolts and nuts breaking off on some of the products.

I am OC'd, it's a weakness and annoys me, especially now when prepping the arms and stuff for painting! EBC blanks should to fine but ferrodo DS2500 are supposed to be excellent and many different car owners use them, not just honda. But then again they are double the price of EBCs, but I say go for it, brake pads are important to get right!

Dixcel seem to get good reviews, but very expensive. You seen the latest Dixon rubbish on the forum leading to him finally getting banned and subsequent users trying to defend him, all low posters and with the same IP has him :D:D:D:rolleyes:?

72160 for the Front aluminium and 67030 for the rears. Got them from IAP in the States, relaly not cheap but much better value than over here. Lets say that a retailer on the forum was offering the fronts at a reduced price, which I nigh payed for both front and rears from the states.

Atlast. He was peddling those discs as some sort of F1 compound as they had carbon in. I consistently challenged him on that and his obvious fail in translation from the Japanese makers as of course the only carbon content was making iron into steel!

I actually only read that thread yesterday, it really was hilarious. Being a Materials Engi I would have loved to challenge him on that, good on you for having a go :D

Typical guy who thinks he knows everything but just makes things up, wrongly recycles what others have said, then justifies his facts *cough* views */cough* as gospel buy going on about how many races he has been in.

Impressive work mate - although it's a pain getting them fitted, poly bushes improve the feel of the car no end imo.

You have mail via. trust. :)

Going ott can lose some suspension travel though as you start introducting stiction that doesn't exist with rubber bushes.

Was at rockingham yesterday and a guy from GAZ was there with the same opinion

Leeum, will reply tomorrow.

Fonzee, yup £50 inc £8 handling, Not bad tbh.

Simon, still got OEM RTA bushes so the active toe will remain :D

19/09/10

Bit of rubbish weekend to be honest, well it feels that way. But in actual fact a fair amount was done and am still on schedule to get the front complete and fitted by Thuus (inc arch undersealing).

Soaked the compliance bushes in nigh on boiling hot water then pressed them into the housings using the vice. But I lost concentration and pressed teh 2nd one in the wrong way around and biy is it impossible to get it back out, mainly due to teh shape of the housing and how hard it is to get grip in the vice with a 22mm socket to press the bush out again.

So had a homemade madras, a beer + x-factor then went out and got it out within 2 minutes. Sometimes it pays to just walk away and chilll, then come back refreshed and just do it.

Only problem with these now is that they won't fit over the arm bolts as they are a tiny bit too tight. Rich already mentioned this on the Invoice that clearancing is an issue with some of these as Honda apparently arn't as tight with their tolerance range. Will sort this out tomorrow.

Earlier on in the day I installed the new Lower Ball joints into the hub assembly which was done by placing a large 32mm socket oer the top of the LBJ and hitting it with the side of my mallett. Hard to get it in there for a swing, but got there eventually.

Also finished off about 10 mintues ago with a coat of electrox on the arms.

Had to redo compliance as they were the wrong way around. Cut my fingers cut my legs and lots of battle scars tonight but got there in the end.

21-09-10

Anyhow, got there in the end with some very crazy assemblies using wood base in the vice, various cokets and a tall metal length to act as a lever. Phew!

So the LCAs and my setup.

Tall black thing can be used to help stop the arm and bush popping out if they arn't aligned. Not soo much use here but VITAL for the compliance bush pressing the assemblies are such a horrible shape!

Pressing in compliance pin. 32mm socket one side for spacing and a tapered type 7/16 socket near side that fits in perfectly.

All done ready for spraying up tomorrow.

Just got back from beers out in Docklands area....

Lets hope I haven't put satin black 'go faster' stripes down the car
