project water-noob

i want to venture into watercooling, its something i've yet to do. and considering im a big overclocker, I really need to look into it. Gonna find your other thread with all the questions and I may not be far behind you lol. Looking good though!

Excellent read and first time job, only hope i can do as good a job :p

as for the assistance offered/given ... first rate :)

did you end up going for the silver coil and nuke or just one of them ?

hehehe .. funny you should say that.
i got both , however becouse the loop was already done , it meant i could only put the coil into the pump/res.
didnt wanna risk it getting stuck anywhere in there so im just using the pt-nuke until i next take it apart.

should be fine just using 1 or the other really, i was just being greedy :p

ok thanks .... i wouldn't say greedy, but for noobs like us it's easy to over kill stuff, and end up over complicating things (not that it needs much overcomplicating as it is!)

tbh, ill be honest here , and remember, im still only a water baby really.
with the advise given on here, and the tips ive received on building it.
the hardest part of doing the complete job for me was actually taking the cover off my 5870 and replacing it with the waterblock.
...and only that becouse i struggled taking the film off the thermal heat pads :p
i was quite surprised on how easy id managed to do it, and i have no faith in myself most of the time.

What i found when i did my first ever true custom loop, came from kits with guides before lol, was take your time, and slowly ur confidence grows, well it did for me.

I still remember my first ever mistake, used the wrong sized screws for my rad, and did'nt realize until, yup u guessed it, i had a desk full of water lmao, don't worry everything was well away (leak testing stage).

And lets just say the main lesson i learnt from that, don't rush things and measure up, even if u are confident.

Nice clean setup there, quite like the look of that blue tubing. Looking to redo mine next month so I may change my current clear Tygon tubing for that, as it looks much nicer.

seems the blue tubing is a winner then, strange really as i would have though peeps would have been getting sick of seeing blue ;)

also.. im just running normal led white lighting in there, the tubing is supposed to look even better under uv .

Nice custom water-cooling and that's good of Rich offer you to get it 4.20Ghz overclocked for you at the workshop. Let us know when it all done and post here with 4.20Ghz temperature of under load with prime95. Well done mate.

thank you.

yes, itll happen earlier this coming week ( unless i hear otherwise).
really cant wait , hopefully Rich will take the photos cos my camera stinks :D

i am sitting here on my laptop atm :(

..... however, my project is now undergoing surgery and all i can do now is wait.

.... wish it luck guys ;).

just turned down from 4.2 to try to get it running silent, quick swap between 2 bios another good feature of the rampage board
fingers crossed for u !

4.2 is looking good.

your chip isnt the greatest 920 ever, it needs a few more vlts to get it to 4.2ghz

but its been going all day.

will save the profile now and then im moving onto the graphics card. :D
