Prototype 2

You are gauging how good the PC port is purely on the single video footage?
How else would you gauge how good it is? Can't say I'm in the habit of buying PC ports just to find out if they are terrible or not. That's why reviews like this exist.

I'm quite enjoying this tbh. All the negative reviews are a bit OTT the game is fun....

The graphics look ok to me certainly no worse than any other port it looks better than the Xbox version. It runs well and the game has not crashed once for me.

Sometimes I feel people expect too much and some critics just try and rip apart for no real reason. It has a few low res textures but then what doesn't even Skyrim has but that is rated as superb..

I think people expect more mainly due to the fact that it came out about 3 months after it was released for consoles. It may also be due to the fact that with many games these days you can't just buy the game and return it if it's a lacklustre port or game like you can if you'd bought it for console so being stuck with something you think is a poor port is very frustrating.

People complain about Skyrim too. Bethesda games are usually called half completed games that are finished by modders like with the texture packs.

True, I'm generally happy if it looks the same as Xbox with a bit of AA.

I just felt the reviews concentrated on slating the game for it's bad points but leaving out the point that it is actually quite fun to play.

Game is now doing my head in. I cannot complete the objective no matter what I do. Even re-loading back to the last checkpoint has no effect. It simply does not recognise that I have completed the objective.

Game is borked.....

What you have to do is, restore checkpoint, THEN you have to ALT TAB, not pause or press ESC, but ALT TAB while the game is running, and THEN change from all cores to just core0 and core1, or the opposite, from core0 core1 to all cores. Alt tab back ingame and it should be working.

Whats this game actually like for those who have it on PC? Some games are good enough to warrant the fact they come as horrible ports (GTA IV, Skyrim, Fallout 3 etc.).

The mouse issue seems pretty deal-breaking, though. :/

Nice just slightly broken then and they never found this in testing.. :(

Will give it a go later cheers

Just tried this and still no good.

Right, decided to give this a go anyway, here are my thoughts:

- M+K is perfectly fine, no problems with it at all, exactly the same as the first game for controls pretty much, obviously this sort of game is better using a controller pad though, but that guy in the video was way over exaggerating how awful the controls were especially when gliding etc.

But then as someone else in this thread said, I am a ninja/god so............... :D :p

- graphics wise, it is an improvement overall compared to the first, however, not by much at all and the textures are awful when looking at stuff close up, looks pretty enough from a distance

- performance, with a 4850 512MB and i5 750 and 8GB RAM (all stock) at 1080, is all right, changing settings doesn't seem to make much difference at all, getting around 35-40FPS average, game feels and looks smooth to me

- gameplay, pretty much exactly the same as the first one, just some new moves, movement and the majority of the stuff is the same more or less. Has followed the same trend as MP 3 regarding cutscenes, every 5 minutes of gameplay, you then have a cutscene pretty much (not as long as the MP 3 ones though, thankfully!) Storyline seems decent enough, very much like the first one again.

Overall I think I am just more miffed at the developers as they said specifically that the delay for PC was to improve everything for the PC version (I sort of knew this wasn't going to be the case though.......), however, there is nothing there to set the consoles and PC version apart as shown in that video posted.

Overall, definitely not a game worth the asking price currently, pick it up in the steam sales when it is around £5, not enough has been improved upon the first game especially when compared to the jump/improvements from Batman AA to Batman AC.
