PS(PC)VR 2, anyone interested?

One weird thing is about after an hour of faffing about with the headset, suddenly it just fell into the correct position and was comfortable. Up until that point it just didn't sit right. I still ordered the Globular Cluster kit, as I want to dial in that sweet spot.

I fitted the globular cluster headstrap and speakers this morning. Install was far easier than I was expecting. Very good, well worth the money.
Once dialed into the sweetspot, it never moves. Just been racing for the past two hours, no issues at all.

Ok, finally got my prescription lenses and the Globular Cluster kit, so I can now dial in the headset and got the sweet spot locked. Once that is locked it's actually not bad in terms of clarity of the lenses. Better than Quest 2 and the Index.

I've tried a few games and overall I'm still disappointed. I prefer the sharpness and clarity of the Quest Pro (and to a lesser extent the Quest 3).

The Chromatic abberation is pretty bad, and the image is very soft, almost blurry. You can't see any SDE though (presumably this is due to the screen filter which is also what causes the soft image ).

Performance is way worse than the Pro. I'm finding it hard to stop Fallout 4 VR reprojecting, and that's on a 4090. Steam motion smoothing is awful so turning that on isn't really an option. I've fiddled with the resolution settings but doesn't seem to make much difference yet. I will have a play and see if I can find the best compromise.

The mura is a bit annoying in some scenes, but most of the time you don't really notice it.

The colours are amazing. I loaded up Elite and it looked incredible (though I couldn't really play the game properly because the latest update threw me into the on-foot stuff). Alyx also looked great, really vibrant.

It's a little bit uncomfortable on my face, I can feel it on my nose which I'm just not used to. The facial interface is an excellent light blocker though.

Long term I might not keep it, but it's a useful Steam backup headset and I can also use it for multiplayer games in my house with my Quest headsets.

If I can sort out the performance issues I can definitely see me using this for sims and games which benefit from the OLED colours and contrast.

Have fpsVR running to check the total % resolution. Other than Metro Awakening I’ve been able to run things higher than ‘100% total’. Some games 150%+ and get 90fps without frame drops.
One game that does look bad IMO is Arizona Sunshine 2. That looked washed out on Quest 3 and no better on PSVR2

Some performance increases and more diagnostics for bluetooth issues.

Played around again tonight. For some reason the framerate was fine now, no idea why.
It's still feels like it's blurry for me, even though the prescription lenses are fine (Looking directly at the FPSVR readout it's clear), but I think it's the chromatic aberration that's doing it. There's a clear fringe around lettering and it's easier to see when it's smaller.
It feels like the lenses have to sit on my nose to make it clear, which is a bit uncomfortable. (The prescription lenses do bulk out the lenses a bit.)

Tried watching a movie in Skybox (Avatar: The Way Of Water 3D) and it looked amazing. I could see myself watching movies in this headset.
The Blu was incredibly vibrant. The blacks in the abyss were inky black.
Skyrim looked great, again soft and blurry compared to the Pro, but lovely colours and contrast, especially in the dungeons. The arm positions felt off though, especially when aiming with a bow.
I tried Alien Isolation and that looked a bit low-res. Might have to tweak the settings a bit. Again, contrast and colours were excellent.
So looking more positive, just wish I could get it sharper.

Best experience with the PSVR2 so far has been Aircar with total res @ 160%. The bright colours and contrast mixed with the ultra smoothness. It’s what I would use to show off my PC & VR goodness

For some reason the thumbsticks wouldn't work for me in Aircar. The triggers worked but I couldn't control the direction. Looked great though.
There’s a custom binding on steam I’ve loaded called “Shared binding from Paycheck Steven’s”. That works fine with PSVR2 controllers

my good lady has ordered me a PSVR2, arriving Monday.

You'll need the PSVR2 PC adapter and a display port cable, and a bluetooth dongle if you don't have bluetooth built in on your PC.
Also for best comfort get the Globlular Cluster kit. It locks the headset on the lens sweet spot.
I also bought the Globular Cluster headphones which are pretty good.

Though after all this extra expense I'll probably be selling mine in the new year as I prefer my Quest Pro and Q3. It's just not sharp enough, and I don't find it comfy. Plus the mura can be annoying.

I thought the add-ons would help, and they do, but not enough.

Some good news, the onboard bluetooth on that motherboard works perfectly with the psvr2 controllers
