Well its launch day for the PlayerStation 3 and after looking on a number of sites it seems they all have stock.

Which can only mean there is no demand for them as they are not selling out like sony was speculating.

Has anyone seen any big sites with out of stock (dont not give links or name), i've checked 5 which all have stock hehe.

I know I wont be getting one until they are like £200 or less.

I don't think it is lack of demand, i think it is just that there is so much stock it is unreal, to beat the ebayers, and good on them for doing it.

OMG... they are still in stock! Sony are dooomed...!!!

Didn't take long for this post did it - expect very similar news stories on well know gaming sites over the next few days/weeks.

Did i mention anything about sony being "doom" ?

All I was asking is has anyone seen any of the big online retailers showing as out of stock as to see how well or "bad" they are selling.

don't turn this into a fanboy thread as im not a "fanboy" I do own a 360 and I will more than likely get a PS3 (as i said) but not for that price.

If someone has stock does that mean it is selling bad? what if that online retailer got issued 10k machines, and is going to get 1k machines a week?
Stock availability means nothing until you find out how many stock they had to begin with and how many they get per week.
The Wii is outta stock, but some places are still only getting about 10 a week, does that mean the Wii is selling loads?

I've read that there is 1 million unitys available for europe (or UK not sure what it was) and today is launch day so you can not talk about stock replenishment as they will only request more stock if they have infact sold the first lot of stock or running low as its not wise to order stock of something that you already have a lot of.

I hope you never own a store if you don't try replenish stock you sell a lot of and/or wait till it is out of stock before re-ordering.
I would be my left nut that every online retailer has an order in for stock replenishment.

I love OCUK, people said 'Selling out in the first day in america means nothing, they only mande 100k' now they make more than enough and its 'look at the PS3, can't sell out' it is just too funny

Mighta known you'd appear Kreeeee :p

Please at least quote the whole thing as cutting out and picking part which suite you just makes things look worse.

If you had quoted it all you would have seen I said

and as for the "hehe" laugh, that because im sick of sony hyping up the PS3 to try and make up for the delay and among other bad things.

How can I be a fanboy for 360/pc if i've already stated I will more than likely get a PS3 but not until it reachs £200. Surely a fanboy would not buy into a brand that he/she is spouting rubbish about.

As I have not and that the Sony Speculation that demand will be big just seems not to be true if everywhere i've seen has stock.

It looks like everywhere has ample stock.

What I'm waiting to hear about are the people that bought a few to sell on who now realise they aren't going to be able to cash in on ebay.

I know there's a few guys downstairs here at work who've done just that.

i did read yestaday that one of the highstreet shops only had 2 ps3`s to sell in the shop , as all there stock had gone on pre orders.
so sales dont look that bad at the moment

Im looking now on the auction site to see whats on there and there seems to be loads on there and no higher price hikes like the 360 and wii saw there are a few being listed for £600 with 2 controelrs + 2 game with free delivery for £600 starting bids and only 1 has 1 bid, loads seems to be around or below retail price at the moment.

If you are planning on buying a PS3 it might be a good idea to see if you can get one on the cheap from auction hehe as there just seems to be loads listed and not to much interest.

Im going shoping very soon, so will check to see if they have any stock in store and see how many are there.

was just listening to capital news and apparently oxford street megastore sold out and all the campers that didnt get one were given a free £2000 hdtv think would have rathered the tv.

Stock costs money so stock is bad for retailers and manufacturers.
I think that they over estimated the demand at the price point, they may have expected consumers to compare like with like (HDD size, Wifi, HDMI, Bluray) instead of bottom line prices.

I want PS3 to sell well and succeed.
I want 360 to sell well and succeed.
I want Wii to sell well and succeed.

The more competition the better, the higher the standard of the competition the better and for us as consumers it means more choice, cheaper prices and better games.

Sony could not win here though. If the stocks were limted then there would be cries of "they've had a year to get stocks there is no reason why stocks are low" and if stocks were high then "hahaha they aren't selling".

From a pure financial point of view I think they overestimated initial demand and set the price too high. I am more likely to get a second 360 than a PS3 at the moment.

however with microsoft atleast you have a choice, not everyone has a hdtv, wireless internet and might not want to play online.

if you do then get a ps3,

mine's dispatched from jersey early hours of this morning it should be here tomorrow (my second controler arrived today :( )

To be fair you could buy what you have listed above more cheaply if you shopped around. However if you re-read the post that you quoted then at the beginning of it you will see:

I personally have no interest in a HD DVD drive, don't need wifi for my 2nd 360, don't want the arcade pack either. So I'll get the elite version for my 50" HDTV downstairs and stick my original 360 on my 32" HDTV upstairs and use a wired connection for the internet.
I use an upscaling DVD player for DVD's on HDMI.
