HDCP hadnt been invented when the 360 was designed (and more importantly costings approved) - so thats a non starter. and even so I bet there is a way that hdcp can somehow be implemented in the hd-dvd drive if / when necessary
HDCP has been around for years. Before the 360 was designed. Its only recently gotten any 'press' though.

This console ( from MS's point of view) has a hopeful life expectancy of 4 years minimum and possibly more. MS are not that close minded - even though you seem to be - to aim it at one relatively small community when media servers and the like are going to be huge in the coming years ( and if anyone, MS has the financial power to make this certain) with the X360 being the front end.
So im close minded because i belive that the 360 was designed as a games console first. Which it was. That isnt open for debate.
I think your getting confused and thinking that i dont see it as a media hub, when i do, im just saying that it was designed as a games console first.

The whole point is most people in the future wont be buying either the PS3 or the X360 as a console , just as MS / SONY originally intended
Maybe. Or maybe not.
But, as ive said many times, the 360 was designed as a games console first, with media abilities tacked on when MS saw which way the wind was blowing.
If you wholeheartedly belive that it was designed for both from the outset, then your having delusions, because if it was designed to be both from the outset, we'd be seeing stronger media abilities than it currently has.

And again, you've ignored my yes/no question. ;)

Or maybe MS purposely limited the 360's media capability because they wanted to shift more copies of Media Center Edition :p

Yeah I do mean that. Its gorgeous! Reminds me just how sucessful Microsofts pad was.

Dont get me wrong. The Playstation pad is great. But new console and same pad with some tweaks. That concept pad was fantastic.
The women would have enjoyed it......... :D

Quick question everyone.
If i buy my mate a component output lead and grand turismo 4 pal, will it output at 1080i?
Im gonna be needing this info asap, so i can order the stuff for my mates bday.

*bump*

Here's a video from GC showing a guy holding the final PS3 console explaining about all the functionality, as well as the controller. Much like the Xbox 360 controller, you will be able to turn the console on and off with the Playstation button as well as have access to the main menu at any time, like you can with the button on the PSP.
