...snipity snip snip snip....

u know what mate, i think i am just gonna be walking away from this one, because me and you are just gonna go round in circles :p and this is just gonna get filled with another PS2 Vs Cube Vs xbox arguement, an arguement which will never ever be won either side.
So me thinks back on topic to PS3 ;)

[edit] see the way they are telling the difference between cheap PS3 and expensive PS3 is by shiney lettering lol

Do you know for a fact that a game first done on say the GC was done by the same team for ps2? no, was the latter rushed to get it out on time? you dont know.
Yes. They were both done by the same development team. And Res4 for PS2 was hardly rushed out considering how late it came out.

Its been said here in the thread already that the ps2 was hard to code for so was the hardware really that bad or didnt they code it right or good enough? Just think about things a bit more deeply before gobbing off a load of horse poo please. And for the record i have sony/ms and ninty in my house so no fanboy crap.
Think about things more deeply?
Theres only me here who's thinking about things more deeply and taking things into consideration like technical specifcations & capabilites when talking about this issue! Most of the rest of you lot are going on the tierd old 'i think' premice for backing up opinions, which are really the ones that need to 'think deeper'. So you tell me who's thinking about things rarther than making rash comments with no backing? ;)

Saw this one coming...

BTY, whoever it was arguing about the PS3 being better value, thats nonscene as well.
For the same price as the 'budget' PS3 you can get a Premium 360 & a WII! :p

Well i didnt want to dissapoint. You may wish to continue debating who said what, but i and be bothered. You are ignoring any refferences i made to your quotes so we will go round and round in circles so i am taking the ground of whats the point. So on that i am not even going to take any more bait

as for the 'budget' PS3, at the same time an expensive PS3 is the same price as an xbox 360 and HD-DVD add on, yet the PS3 you get a 60GB HDD the xbox you get 12.
Also you get one unit not 3.

How do you know that though? The HD-DVD addon hasnt A) been priced nor B) is it essential for what the console was designed for, playing games.
And the 360 comes with 20Gb HDD, not a 12, even if it does come at that stock. And if the rumors come true, we'll be seeing 100Gb drives as standard.
And what are you on about 'Also you get one unit not 3?'.

The fact remains, for buying a system thats primary design is gaming, for the same price as the PS3, you can get a 360 & WII.

Pricing going by another thread on here is set to be around £130
It depends what u want really, a next gen media format, or a console with a wierd controller. I cant see people at christmas buying 2 consoles tbh
It may come with a 20Gb hdd but only 12 of it is usable by the user.
and that is a rumour which is very quiet so eehh we will see about that one and even if it does get upped from 20 to 100gb as standard, how much that gonna cost.
3 big boxes under your TV -Xbox 360, HD-DVD player and Power brick 2 of which need to be kept well ventalated or it will have a nervous breakdown
as i said depends what you really want and what interests you more, using a wiird (deliberate spelling) controller or watching Hi Def movies from a Hi Def format, Different strokes for different folks. So the fact remains if you want a next gen console with top of the range media capabilities, you can get a PS3 for cheaper than a 360.
Ohh and how do u know it will be cheaper, the Wii hasnt even been priced yet, so if i cant comment on the price of a 360 and HD-DVD add on, how can u comment on a price for a 360 and Wii, there is more evidence to suggest a 360 HD-DVD add on will be around 130 quid than there is of a Wii being any price!

if the xbox360 is hot with a external power supply , whats the ps3 gonna be like with a internal!, time will tell

and not all consoles go into a entertainment cabinet, a lot are or will be in kids bedrooms, thus then the price point will come into the factor of which console sells best after initail early adopters, how long will sony keep thier console at £425 because people do make judgements on price, even more so when spec wise there isn't much difference even if one has a blue-ray drive included and one hasn't - most see that as something thats not really needed right now but could change when prices drop

:p jumpers and boomAM in a fight of mortal kombat tbh, or at least a gladiator style duel with them soft whakky things.

Seriously though i do think boom AM has made valid points here, as has jumpers, but imo the ps2 was the weakest technically of the 3 last gen machines

Quite possibly true , however what was technically difficult for MS to make a SFF pc and brand it as a console, which was give or take exactly what the original xbox was. Sony however made more (arguably) out of lesser hardware that was fixed along time before launch and the sales are still continueing 5 years later - that cant be bad by anyone's standards.

Just as a joke I thought about taking a picture of a full tie handle bin bag and posting it on the "X360 setup" thread, as I havent used mine in around 6 weeks, I am really hoping more inventive games come out for every console to really broaden the market.

Of coruse everyone would love the PS3 (a lot) nearer the £300 mark and that would be better competition for both Wii and X360 but I actually hail Sony for including the Blu Ray as default - whether its a losing format against HD-DVD or not, just for trying and broadening the technical capabilities out there.

I personally buy a console to play games.
Thats what they were designed for.
As long as they can do that, other functions come seperately.

'12Gb', which is more if the demos/test media is deleted, is more than enough for playing games really.

The WII has been constantly touted as costing well under $200. If not $150.
That how. ;)

I agree with your principle but MS are marketing it as a multimedia console and not just for games , ie Hidef content of all types which in my opinion means even 20Gb is by no means enough ( I may have a large collection of CD's but I have ripped about 2/3 of my collection at 192kbps and it totals 20Gb - thats without any hidef tv or any of Ms's downloads, let alone future music or other types of future storage) . You have to admit 20Gb is very stingy

well thats when you use media connect and stream from the PC?, why have that much music on the HD?

My point is why should it be necessary to have both devices on, if MS provide the storage space you could have local copies of all yoru media files on both - they are marketing it as not just a games console after all

They can market it however they want, but the fact is they built it as a games console. And thats what it is.

its funny because even last time MS and Nintendo said they were better game consoles and still lost. :p

No they havent, they are marketing it more as a media centre than just a games console - they are NOT just marketing it to the gamer fraternity
