prehaps all those with 60gigs will be freely replaced by Sony for a slim.
whats being scrutinized exactly? I thought the PS3 had quite a low death rate - at least low enough not to warrant the extended warranty that MS have had to give for the 360 and the RROD error etc
And I think the earlier post in this thread saying that the Xbox does everything the PS3 does, but better is a bit of fanboyism.
haha yeah right.
My friends Sony Bravia does pretty much what my LG does, Shall we see if they can be forced to lower those prices too![]()
MS covered their asses with a plentiful extended warrenty on those issues though.
Sony's problems probably came because 1) 10% is still too high. 2) Charge a fortune for a repair that takes 15 mins and 3) in many cases attempted to get out of warrenty replacements by blaming the user.
MS had far more mud slung at them before they acted than Sony have so far, they appeared on several 'consumer watchdog' programmes all around the world before they introduced the 3 year warranty. Sony are a long way from being hounded as strongly as MS was. They also did 2 out of the three things on your list, the only difference is that the failure rate was close to 50%.
Guess my point is, we've got a long way to go before Sony introduce anything as drastic as a 3 year warranty and refunds for all previous repairs.
