£399 delivered!

Not an official RRP drop but still a sign of the way it's heading.

Should be affordable in a few weeks time at this rate

If Sony drop the RRP we may see prices equal to the Xbox Elite, that should see a few more units shifted :)

I'm hoping the 20Gb version comes in at under £350, with a rumble controller.

That's most promising I have to admit. :)

I doubt it will fall any further any time soon to be honest.

Didn't Sony pull production on the 20GB model? Besides, you can't even get the 20GB model in the UK as it was losing Sony even more money than the 60GB version.

Thanks for the heads up nonetheless! ;)

Whappers.

MS are purported to be making $60 per console.
Sony are losing as much as $150 per console.

Only one price cut we're really going to be seeing anytime soon.

True. Sony are desperately trying to reduce the cost of the console to increase sales by shrinking the Cell, removing the PS2 and PS1 chip from the European PS3 and not including HDMI cables etc. Heres hoping that they can do it soon so as they can pass the savings onto us!

Dropping the price already, looks like they are getting desperate....

We all knew that the price was too high though.

I saw a shop in Basingstoke town centre with a big sign in their window saying that they'd dropped the PS3 price to £399. Was quite surprised :)

Sony Playstation 3 PS3 Console With 60GB HDD + FREE HDMI cable + Click (Blu-Ray) - £399 delivered. Not bad at all.

This isn't an official price drop. It's just individual retailers dropping the price a little as they are struggling to sell the console, which is a bit of a shame so early in it's life.

I'm not being funny but we ALWAYS get craped on when it comes to the price of things. If it's not selling it's because of the price. I just had a quick search, they are 300 pounds in the US!

If the EU PS3's had the ps2 and ps1 chips i'd buy one. But not being able to play my ps2 games is messed up.
Personally I dont find that a problem, the problem is that other people can and sony chose to take it away from us because they included cell processors and blu-ray drives which hike the manufacturing proces up so much.

If Sony were to include a better controller with a lesser model there would be a massive outrage.

Currently yes but in a few months it should be standard..hmm although high stocks in warehouses of models with the standard controller may delay what is an inevitable transition IMO.
