Doesn't matter.

I had posted asking why you couldn't use 1080i but as you already answered as I was posting, the question was redundant.

yes thats fine but my TV does'nt work well with 1080i, it shimmers, and I'm sure blu-ray on the PS3 can't scale to 720p.
I just disabled 1080i on my PS3 settings and fired up Casino Royale, still looked to be in Hi Def. :)

Cool, was just asking what NM meant, I googled it in the end :o , I'm still a noob when it comes to understanding all this net lingo :)

Ummm, I wonder if it's in 720p though, if anyone can shed any light on this it would be much appreciated.

I've just checked on my PS3 and if the oputput is set to 720p it downscales to 480p. Those of you who currently have it on 720p and thought that blu rays looked high def wait until you've set it to 1080i and it actually is and you'll be amazed the picture is a lot better.

the problem (as pointed out above) occured when peoples sets (mostly in the US) could do 1080i, but not 720p, so it got downscaled to 480. It was a problem with games, which were designed at 720p i think. but there's a scaler which has been activated in a patch (or soon will be) which negates the concerns now.

if your tv can do 720p, you're laughing, and should invest if you want one.

I thought someone mentioned a wallpaper change ability in the update.. I can't find it? I am so bored of the minimalist sony backdrop..And why the ** can't they give us the ability to create folders for our pictures..I hate having em lumped in with every thing.. I can't put my babes folder in cos my missus will get the hump!

Doesn't the TV give any info on what it is receiving? my TV mentions 1080p when I switch on the PS3

What happens if you only tick 1080i ??

I just read that it now allows you to use the Guitar hero controllers for GH1 + 2, but looks like the non Sony USB adaptors dont work correctly though. Seems like some of the buttons on the fret board are wrong ie green swapped with yellow, hopefully this will be ok when Sony release the official adaptors at some point.

My TV tells me in the top right corner when it switches. Your TV problably has a display button which will tell you what it currently showing.
