PS3 UK Demand

If you dont like it please dont buy one....Im sure there are many more who want one and would buy one. :)

I actually think that there are a lot of people who would like a PS3 but can't afford one or justify buying one beacuse of its real cost....

I am sure some of these are kicking up a fuss etc etc etc.

We all want a ferrari or lambo yet not everyone of us can afford it. Yet, some of us dont go about saying how it is too expensive when existing cars can give such performace for half the price...blah blah blah. :p

Ferrari 360 moderna, I know of a Nova that can beat one. I know of a Nova that can beat most cars in this country.

If we all had the choice, And the price of the Ferrari came down to the price of the Nova, Which would we buy?

I would like to buy a PS3. On my placement at uni so I have some spare cash, but its just too expensive to justify it. £150 less and i'd snap it up.

I get paid the day after, im hoping i can just go pick one up!

:D

Though it'll probably sting a little after buying a HDMI cable and a few games!!!!

Edit : Anyone whos got one recommend some games? Im just looking over the IGN game reviews now! :) Thanks

Dont forget you can pick up a hdmi cable now for about £5 - performance will be exactly the same as the offical ps3 cable.

O rly? Its a standard HDMI to HDMI? No fancy PS3 bit on the end?

Ill get one ordered now then :)

iirc there isn't an official Sony HDMI cable out for the PS3 yet.

My local independent store is only selling MONSTER HDMI cables for £60, lol - feel sorry for any poor soul that knows no better and takes one of them

Can't help thinking that if Sony had released the PS3 with a boggo DVD drive, no built in wifi, an external PSU the size of a house brick, made it sound like a bus running and charged £280 for it, then wanted an extra £110 for a Blu-Ray external drive and £60 for a wifi adaptor..people would STILL complain siting that Sony didn't pick up the dropped ball other consoles left!

Everything comes at a price (albeit more to us Europeans) so if it doesn't add up to you then don't buy one. Simple.

ElRazur, love the Ferrari analogy! Quality :D

There is one available for pre-order (23/03/07) which is gold plated. It's rrp is 17.99 which is not too bad. But you can buy a cheap HDMI cable for 3-5 pounds. According to many forums with people using HDMI devices (including PS3) there is no difference as it is a digital cable.

I'm going to just get a cheap one for now from an auction site or something.

ROFL. Did I make it that obvious? ;)

No offense to 360's. I bought one on release day, kept it 2 months and sold it cos there was nowt new I wanted to play. Wouldn't mind one now but I couldn't put up with that frikkin' noise again, will wait til the new "quieter" SKU's are out I guess.

Bought a Wii for the kids, sold it a month later cos it was just plain pants to me and even the kids didn't want to play after the initial couple of weeks novelty factor wearing off.

Time will tell if the PS3 is a keeper but I want a Blu-Ray player anyway so it's looking good so far :D

I cancelled my Amazon pre-order this morning. I'm already front of the queue at the local GAME so I'm pretty sure I will get one on release day, so the Amazon pre-order was just me hedging my bets.

One positive from this apparent lack of demand is the profiteers who normally hoover up all stock of this sort of thing are really going to be bitten on the ass. Serves them right!

Btw, shouldn't that be "rushed to market" to the onslaught of problems from owners with lock ups, overheating, disc's scoring, controllers not syncing etc etc? ;)

I would rather wait 18 months and have a quality peice of hardware than a rushed out unreliable noise machine ;)

Whilst I agree the PS3 is a great piece of hardware being able to play some great next gen high def games this last year and a half has been too good to miss out on.

I don't agree the 360 was rushed I just think somewhere someone made a bad design / manufacturing descision that has caused relaibility problems that are above average. Mine's been going strong since last January and I genuinely don't worry about it dying on me but I recognise many people are having troubles.

This is the crux for me. I could afford a PS3 quite easily I just don't really fancy one. MS have me hooked, plenty of games, a large friends list (and some genuine new good friends now met through live). My mrs is happy and even has her own gamertag and nearly 1k points; she's loving Oblivion and can't wait for Fable 2. I have a Vista laptop for browsing, and genealogy (I'm a part time family historian) and it links very nicely to my 360 when grandparents are over etc so I can show slideshows and videos on the tv.

Motorstorm, Resistance and Home don't really excite me and I can't really see much on the horizon that does. The current media functionality doesn't excite me and as a senior software engineer for 5 years I've really had my lot with installing and playing with linux. (Why did I almost always need a Windows PC with a browser on next to my linux install box so I could look up problems! lol). I just want to sit down at the end of the day, switch something on and have it work. I don't buy a console to install linux on it.
