PS3 UK Demand

Wow, that's very generous of you. Giving away a console game to a complete stranger. I'm sure there's a fair few people in London who'll gladly take you up on your offer ;)

Condition applies. :p

I was first :D

p.s. I don't know which bit of RFOM you refer to (until you give me your copy !!)
BUT in Gears of War there is an impressive bit I think end of ACT 3 (where you make your way back to your team mates). Here there is loads of independent enemies attacking you. (Will only make sense to those who have played SP GOW). This bit was quite impressive I thought.

i think people are being put off by the price tag.

It wasn't the price tag which put me off, it was the poor game choice for my tastes. I have the XBOX360, AND (and this is a major factor for me) GTA is coming to that platform next, so I have no reason to purchase PS3. There aren't many games I like... GTA, Crackdown, PGR2/3 .. but mostly GTA. If the next GTA was coming to PS3 first then I'd have got one, as it isn't then I won't. I appreciate not everyone is as narrow minded as that :D
The only reason I purchased a PS2 (late in it's life) was to play GTA:VC

As far as I know both console versions of GTA come out in NOV 07? Different downloadable content planned for 360 and PS3 but released on both nonetheless. If that is your only reason then time to pre-order a ......

I have a copy of rfom andi would gladly let you have it if you are in london. Is that good enough?

I've been playing it a plenty of christmas on my brothers PS3 which I had for nearly 3 months, he's got it back now, simply as his extension is finished and he's got his TV installed, so I'll have to get my own now...

I thought the RfoM being so technically advanced and only doable on the cell was a well known fact or something, seems its just an extreme fanboys flight of fancy ;)

Well I already have a 360, so not gonna pre-order a PS3 just in the hope for "different downloadable content".
Anyway, I'd have to make a space for the PS3, and I don't like that sort of pressure in my life :D

Im saying it is different and better in the sense that many things can happen on the screen without slow downs or lagg when compared together. On the ps3 you can have (the last count i did on the Rfom) about 23 ai on the screen all shooting at you, your men, laying mines, coming for you etc....I dont remember gow been able to do that from what i have seen.

Stop talking out of your arse. You are on about the game engine, not the console.

Huh? so basically, ps3 gam engine or Rfom game engine is better than that of gow...Is that what you cant say? :p

Erm, maybe more efficient - however have you played GoW? I've had a lot of enemies attacking me. Care to compare? You rave on about something which is quite frankly BS. How good is the AI in RTFOM? Does it look comparable to GoW as from what I've heard it doesn't...

Oh if you want impressive play kameo :P

Wait a minute before you go all technical on me. Why is it that in some games when you have too much on-screen actions, it just slows down or kinda lagg, aint that got something to do with the console and the power behind it? Iirc uncapped psp handles games that slows down better than capped psp.

Have i played GOW? Yes i have for a short while....Was i impressed? Not one bit, seems like a rip of Killswitch but with better graphics. I have given you example - Rfom. I cant remember the stage but i would get back once i check it out. (iirc, i save that particular stage) How good is the AI in Rfom? Put it this way, more intelligent than what i have seen on most console to date. I dont understand why you are quick to dimiss my point yet expect me to buy yours...Look at this, from what you HEARD but from what i have PLAYED...I belive Rfom ai is better. :)

Well I'd believe what I've read over what you say any day - as I'm actually interested in a PS3 anyway, hence I'm unbiased. Regardless of whether GoW is a rip of killswitch - we are on about the engine not game play.

At any point during Gears of War, Do you feel like you are in a war zone?

It's a very pretty game, But very Linear and to the point.

PS3's Cell is much more capable of running multiple scenarios at one time, Increasing in game realism, And immersion.

yes the Xbox may be able to do something similar, But not while maintaining graphics like GoW.

And a gaming engine, is built to use the hardware available to the best of it's ability, While giving said effect the engine wishes to achieve. PS3 has Cell available, 360 has the very nice GPU.

Nice graphics can only carry you so far. Gamecube for instance? GPU in that was far superior to the PS2 or Xbox :)

So... because you personally have had no issues that means no one will ever have a problem...

LOL!

I aint nostradamous nor do i have a crystal ball like you...you know. :p and i dont remember implying it.

And yet another PS3 thread decends into the oblivion of Playground debate tactics.

1) The Xbox 360 was here 1st, its as powerful as the PS3 overall, its way cheaper, does what it says it will well. (£330 gets me a premium 3 games and extra wireless controller)

2) The PS3 offers BR, a bigger hole in your wallet.

3) There are only a handful of exclusives now to the PS3 or 360 and most of the classic must have games are or will be on both platforms.

4) Demand is pretty obvious (not that high), pre-orders are easily available on the highstreet everywhere, places are offering discounts already and global sales are hardly outstanding compared to the Wii or 360 over Q1 07 + Q4 06.

Sorry. If it's going down this road again I can't agree.
360 is MORE EXPENSIVE like for like...fact. No matter how many times you don't want to go there. ;) Please don't give me the "I don't want a Blu-Ray player" or "I don't need a wifi connection cos 20metres of cat5 is good enuff" etc etc.
Bundles are obviously a bargain now cos it has been out 18 months afterall. I had one from day one of release and it soon got sold. Only GoW is tempting me again but that's not enough to put up with that shonky noise again imho.

Exclusives? Well. I'd rather have the "best" version and I'm not predicting PS3 versions will always be the "best" but the hardware indicates they might.

Demand is huge, due partly to the delay and Sony actually getting enough consoles to meet the demand. Just because it hasn't sold out, doesn't mean there's no demand, it means the demand is being met. :D
I went to about 5 shops on Sunday and, even though they are still taking launch day pre-orders, they have sold a substantial amount. Over 200 in just one tiny store for instance.

Demand is so great that my local purple shirt world has a grand total of one PS3 preorder and that's me. :D That's not great when it's one of the main stores in the UK. Great games create demand. It's no surprise that the Wii is a hot potato at the moment when you consider there was a Zelda game available from launch. Had there been a Final Fantasy, MGS or GT game to accompany the PS3 then you wouldn't be able to get hold of one outside of the first 30 minutes of the consoles being available for launch.

Bickering about the hardware and its capabilities is pointless. The Xbox was far superior to the PS2 but it didn't stop the bulk of the games appearing on the PS2 and it didn't stop the console selling shed loads. Having owned all of the recent consoles and all but the PS3 of the new generation I find that it all comes down to the game developers' skill rather than the quality of the hardware. You also have to remember that hardware statistics are practically useless when it comes to consoles. It's all well and good to look at the console's 'potential' but it's impossible to say in the formative years whether this will ever be realised. It's only possible to look back on the lifespan of a console and say whether the 'potential' was ever realised or not.

Neither is it worth slating the X360 for taking a while to release some good games. Anyone remember how long it took for the PS2 to have a great game? It took ages for GT3 to come out. New consoles take a while to a quality catalogue and early adopters always have to put up with the dross until the quality begins to arrive.

What rubbish.

The PS3 is more expensive - FACT

Well sorry to give them to you, but both those statements are true for me.
