When it comes to expense, you can't easily compare either console as there are no equals..
Otherwise you just end up in a mass of combinations and permutations that you can bend either way..
To compare RRP of individual consoles is just fanboy fodder, we need to look at 'deals' on the street, no one in their right mind is going to choose a console only deal over a console + games + accessories for the same price..
If you look at VFM, then with current deals, the 360 is still better VFM, even spec'd up..
Example.
Xbox 360 + PGR3 + Smackdown + XBLA Unplugged + Extra MS Wireless Controller = £299, then you'd have to add a HD-DVD (comes with remote) on top, and the MS WiFi dongle.. oh, and a HD-DVD Film, which is £130 + £55 + £15(Street prices)
making a grand total of £500
So to achieve the same for PS3, looking at deals and being kind
I can find a PS3 with 3 games, HDMI Cable (and BR Film) for £525
Then adding a Sony controller, £28 , Headset, PS2 USB Sony headset £25, and official BR remote £15,
that works out at £593 if we accept a non Sony HDMI lead as 'fair'..
But so what.. £93 isn't a lot anyway, I'd say more importantly, from a financial aspect, the 360 is much more appealing because you don't have to buy it all at once, if you don't need wireless or have a wireless AP near the console anyway, then you don't have to pay £55 for the priviledge of something you don't need, the same goes for the HD-DVD drive..
Of course Fanboys would just retort with looking at 'basic' RRP/Hardware only theoretical prices to skew it either way.. but this isn't what is available to the average joe..
