PS4 and Xbox Rumours

Think it was merged into this one.

Indeed, threads were merged as we already have a console speculation thread (I'll get the thread renamed too actually). No point in having multiple open.

A thread for the unvail though is do-able, someones welcome to start one off tomorrow ahead of the press conference.

But Sony have the better games, better exclusives and a good online service (if not great). This is from an xbox console owner.

However, the thing which puts me of about the PS3 is the control pad, it's rubbish and isn't comfortable when pitted against the xbox controller.

Looking forward to the unvail tomorrow night :)

Exactly this for me as well. The controller compared to the Xbox controller is just impossible to use, cramped and those toggles/triggers needed fixing.

Thats all well and good if true but the playstation simply has exlusives that I want to play.

The Xbox has zero. Halo? lol.

This. Generation after generation I end up spending more time and buying more games for a Sony console than the others due mainly to the exclusives they get. I'm still interested in seeing what Microsoft have to offer this round, as I'm sure they must have something up their sleeve. Will probably end up getting both as usual, but as it stands my interest lies primarily in the PS4 as it already has games announced/rumoured that interest me so much more than Halo and Gears.

Not to mention sony have now added more gimmicks onto the pad, which would mean the pad would be heavier and obviously the touch pad in the middle would cramped things up even more;

For me, if they moved the thumb sticks and made it ever so slightly bigger it would be compariable to the xbox controller.

I'm genuinely gobsmacked that no decent third party controller exists, which is an xbox clone. Simple solution for those of us who are put off by the (largely judged to be) inferior controller. It would make the PS4 a lot more attractive as a purchase.

I also cannot stand the PS3 pad. No idea who designed it but they need shooting. The new pad looks to have the same stick layout with better triggers. Which just means more hand cramps for me.

The improvements on the PS4 controller are good. It's pretty much perfect other than the location of the sticks. They seem to stubborn, and are unwilling to move them. I would be happy if they sold two types of controllers with the sticks in different positions so you could choose the one with the stick layout you prefer

It's the location that's the issue for me. I have to bend my thumb to the right and as my hand is half metal it causes me cramps. I do not get the same from the Xbox pad. It's a pain as I generally use the PS3 more than Xbox.

The bigger grips should help though, because your hands won't be so far up on the controller.

You lot still harping on about the PS controller? Did you skip the PS era or something? Granted the Xbox has better analog placements but are you not already used to the PS dual shock? Or did you all come late to the party and start out on Xbox first?

I've had a PS1, PS2, Xbox, Xbox 360 (as well as Nintendo consoles) from launch.

When launched the PS1 + 2 pads were ace, really suited me and felt comfortable. However, when the 360 pad was released it was like what alcoholics call "a moment of clarity", and changed my perceptions of what was comfy and what wasn't around gaming pads.
