PS4 and Xbox Rumours

It's plausible that they have made the 8GB DDR3 into DDR5 (8GB, doubt they made it 12 in total), but I doubt the AMD CPU was swapped to a IBM custom CPU. I thought it was pretty much guaranteed that both consoles had the same type of CPU from AMD? Plus you couldn't change something fundamental like the CPU at this stage (imo).

Either way Tuesday's reveal should be good as we will get to see the hardware and next COD game running on it (from what I have read).

I really hope they don't follow on from Win 8 with updating tiles and social networking built in.

They need to concentrate on the core gaming experience and give us something that is capable of delivering great games without all the other nonsense nobody really wants.

I find it hard to believe it will be called "now." I don't want to hear "now" for the next 5+ years. It sounds so bland and dull.

Gonna have to rush home tonight to try and catch the stream. Looking forward to it. Hope this new xbox is impressive.

It'll have a million and one things that have nothing to do with gaming built into it. This should be expected at this point.

I think this app might cause some confusion with the rumored name.

I've taken the liberty of highlighting the exclusive games. (This being the top 25 games as per metacritic).

Forgetting all the other reasons after the first couple of years it's the xbox exclusives that let it down for me in comparision to the PS3. Looking at those top titles two of the 360's are Gears of war and let's be honest as single player games they were way to short and on rails. Hell the 2nd one didn't even have an end boss. I'm a huge Gears fans but as single player games they are paint by numbers in comparison to other games.

I'm intererested to see what they offer in exclusives this time around, because the good ones seem to have dried up. I'm already swayed towards the PS4, hopefully the reveal will be more focused on the actual games rather than trying to distract from lack of exclusives with all the other wonderful features the console may do :)

I thought the next gen ms console was using a custom x86 AMD CPU based on current PC hardware, easy for devs to port or dev games using Directx. Not going back to another custom IBM CPU......guess we have to see come tomorrow.

On another note, what time will the announcement be for UK time? Im in Thailand at the moment and can't find an actual time for here or UK. In a hotel with pants WiFi so I'm struggling here.

So the new Xbox "wow" or now or pow or whatever it's called has 12gb of ram

4gb on the gpu and 8 for the system... Sounds good but hardly a difference from the ps4 specs.
The 4.9tflops I've got my doubts and be interested to see some real world benches.

The real question is how many red lights do I need to look out for this time???

Regardless ill be buying both anyway

If this is true, will the higher specs even affect the majority of games, which are multiplats? Look at this gen, PS3 was supposed to be more powerful than the 360, yet it's damn near impossible to tell the difference when you look at the games.

According to Xbox Scene, the new Xbox spec has been released and look a lot better than the PS4, titled the Xbox Now the new Xbox spec looks pretty impressive.

* There is now a full 12 gigabytes of high-speed RAM in the new Xbox Now! console, unlike the previous rumors of only 8gb.
* To be precise, there is 4gb GDDR5 on the GPU and 8gb GDDR5 on the 8-Core IBM custom CPU.
* The GPU is the first GCN 2.0 GPU produced and was designed by special team of MS+IBM+AMD.
* Eric from IBM will be a speaker on the 21st. with more info like the fact the GPU specs. are a mindblogging 4.9 TFlops

Thats all well and good if true but the playstation simply has exlusives that I want to play.

The Xbox has zero. Halo? lol.

Utterly hilarious.

Please explain how Microsoft aren't interested in games anymore and are moving away from "actual proper games". :o:o:o:o:o:o

How many exclusive games do they have?
Alan Wake
Gears
Halo
Forza
Crackdown(where has this game gone to though?)
Fable
Er,is that it?

Compared to Sony
Uncharted
God Of War
Little Big Planet
Ratchet & Clank
Last Of Us
Heavy Rain
Infamous
GT
Beyond:Two Souls
Killzone
Motor Storm
Resistance
White Knight Chronicles

There may be a few i've missed.

I have said that I have a 360 and I like it a lot,I just don't like the direction the MS is going in.

Add these to that list:
Jak & Daxter
Heavenly Sword
Twisted Metal
Sly Cooper
Starhawk
Demon's Souls
Metal Gear Solid 4

That's not including multi-award winning indie games like Journey and The Unfinished Swan ;)

8 core custom IBM cpu hmmm??

Most of the speculations/discussions were pointing to custom AMD 8 core cpu or more like APU.

Why is less GDDR memory dedicated to gpu? Doesn't seem to be much of shared ram between gpu and cpu.

What on earth?!

Xbox live is the better of the 2 online gaming services.

Xbox 360 has the same amount of core gamer games as the PS3.

What they do have beyond the PS3, is an excellent casual games system in the form of Kinect.

I think people are confusing themselves. Microsoft have just a strong core gamer base as Sony. The difference being that they also have a very strong casual game base as well. Also don't forget that the dashboard has more developed media/home entertainment hub features than the XMB. None of these detract from the gaming experience, so completely baffled how anyone can use them as negatives.

I also can't believe that 7 years on (or whatever it is), we're still using the £40 live sub as a massive issue. Yes it's annoying, but Xbox live does work better and gold essentially now provides perks much like PS Plus does.

But Sony have the better games, better exclusives and a good online service (if not great). This is from an xbox console owner.

However, the thing which puts me of about the PS3 is the control pad, it's rubbish and isn't comfortable when pitted against the xbox controller.

Looking forward to the unvail tomorrow night :)
