PS4 CASING - MODDED(OR BUTCHERED, DEPENDING ON TROLL ABILITYS)

Don't see how the airflow could be disrupted, there nothing near air compression for an extreme example and nothing moving at any great speed, he now has a vent where I imagine there is a lot of heat buildup.
Last time I looked heat rises so why would it stay at the bottom of the PS4? Unless now it goes down and out of the modded hole?

ps3ud0

Regardless of how much sony hype the cooling of the ps4 up, i don't think putting a vent under the cpu are will do anything but help disperse some heat.

heat generally rises, also where he has put the vent it's going to be in an enclosed space as the bottom will be against a piece of wood most likely in an av unit.

makes more sense to draw air in from the front/sides of the console and exhaust it out the back than to draw air from under the console (where it's cramped) does it not?

unless he uses his console standing up but it doesn't appear to be so from his pictures.

The link that Physco Sonny put up has a good image showcasing how it could cause an issue with the cooling (4th image down), as the fan is designed to create negative pressure inside the system drawing cooler external air over all the components before expelling the heated air out the back.

The mod may actually now be drawing in more external air in total, but the internal air pressure will have risen meaning it's no longer drawing as much air from the sides and therefore not cooling those areas as efficiently as before.

Whether this makes much of a difference to the temperature or lifespan of components or not in the long run is debatable, but improving cooling is not always the case that adding more holes leads to better cooling.

This is it. There will be less air drawn across those components, raising their temperature, leading to a shorter lifetime. Now, more butchering is needed to fix this.

Opening it in the first place was a terrible idea dude, I hope it doesn't fail within your warranty period.

Don't see it, that is just a convenient conclusion, there's nowhere near the force necessary in the airflow for it to be disrupted by that outlet, the fact that there will be less heat buildup there would negate the 'effects' you mention.

There really is, cooling this sort of stuff is done with the help of air pressure to ease the work of fans.

It really was a bad idea based on ignorance of how cooling systems work.

You're completely wrong there is nowhere near the amount of velocity required for there to be air pressure. It just creates a flow of air to help disperse heat. Guy in that video lost about 20C in temps with the same mod as the op. so why so much hate?

You don't need a lot of force to create air pressure, you seem to think we are talking pressurised container levels of air pressure.

Also, we don't know where and what he lost temps off. You've misunderstood the points being made, whilst it *may* reduce the temps of some parts, it will be reducing overall airflow throughout the case, which is the point people are bringing up.

Why is everyone getting there knickers in a twist over this. The guy wanted to mod HIS ps4 to try and improve temps. Some of the comments have been very close to personal attacks and out of order imo. Let's just start ridiculing the guy because it's cool. Pathetic

Unless I'm missing something the temps he's reporting there don't seem to be any better than reported here:

http://www.digitalversus.com/games-...does-get-hot-it-harnesses-it-well-n31923.html

Not to mention an air temp of 90 degrees would be insane.

If anyone wants to do this that's fine - it's their system and they're more than welcome to modify it and tell us about it, I'm simply pointing out that while it may possibly reduce temps at one point there may also be other issues it causes elsewhere in the system.

Cheers spoffle for clarifying what I was saying :D

He reckons up to 20C difference most say about 10C which is quite a difference. If you don't like the idea of modding a ps4 why not just say so or go somewhere else? I suspect he was exaggerating when he said 90 before you have a stroke.

I will point out also that for years the GFX card forum has been full of people putting waterblocks on £500 graphics cards and cpu's why not go and spite them?

I think that some people (myself included) browse these forums "tongue in cheek", which is viewed as trolling by more serious posters.

Its his PS4, but come on, if it aint broke don't fix it. I remember the 360 "dremmel" mods that did improve noise and cooling mind

Poking the highly strung forumites with a stick and watching pathetic people over react is what keeps me here to be honest (I can't wait for the bite with the "irony" posts). The actual community died about 6 years ago...

Community's come and go, its fair to say that this forum has dipped compared to days gone by. I never went ( I know you did Kreeeee) but the meets in wales etc created a good bunch of people.

Wonder what the appetite would be for a console meet somewhere. It would probably end in a punch up
