PSP or DS?

There's lots of different ways to get make a magic memory stick, which probably doesn't help the confusion. :)

You can get installers that you simply point it to the files you need, tell it where your memory stick is, and then let it create the files on the stick.
I've know of an installer that's very first time user friendly. If you want to email me (check trust) I'll happily point you in the right direction. :)

The rain forest definitely sell the TOOL/Pandoras batteries, it's where I got mine.

Upgrading from one CFW to the next is dead easy, you grab the latest CFW and OFW from Dark Alexs site, copy them both to the PSP and run the installer that shows up. :)

OK, thanks, I may well take you up on that.
Vin.

many games dont hook you instantly, pirating you tend to leave them, but investing in them you persevere and sometimes find a cracker of a game.

thats very true. It's easy to give up on a game after 20min when you have another 50 games to play.

I say this going back to the amiga days. Everyone had piles of disks and most games get ignored

This might be wandering into dangerous territory so feel free to remove my post. I have tons of old PS1 games is there a guide on how to get these on my PSP? I currently have the 4.01 M33 firmware on it.

If you're a fan of Final Fantasy, the only way to go is to get both. There's quite a lot available for both.

Despite the original thread intention to dicuss PSP vs DS, this thread has some wonderful PSP related info in it and its more and more convincing me to go down the road of getting a PSP with CFW for an all in one gaming, media and document portable machine for half the price and better games than an a EeePC :)

not sure if this has been mentioned but if you have cfw you can get 2 homebrew programs called "psptube" and "pimpstreamer"

psptube lets you watch youtube vids on it as well as some other streaming sites, which is pretty neat since the psp browser doesnt have a high enough flash version to view videos on they sites :)

pimpstreamer on the other hand lets you use your wifi to browse your harddrives contents with the psp and you can watch streaming vids, pics and music.

the pc end of the program encodes on the fly for videos so no need to convert any :)

The web browser in it is really terrible (in the fat model it is anyway) pages often dont load fully and if you have all tabs open you have to scroll through them and close them because of insufficient memory. I wouldnt choose it over a Eee pc i would choose it as a games maching and media device.

i agree the web browser is terrible because of memory restrictions on it and the overall speed of it.

the browser doesn't actually use the 32mb ram that the psp fat has it uses 4 mb of some other kind of memory sony put in it. (its a bit early im drunk and tired but if you look up the specs for the psp you will see the 4mb im on about and to my knowledge the slim has the same set up for browser eg it doesnt touch its 64mb)

edit: # Main Memory: 32MB
# Embedded DRAM: 4MB (thats what the browser uses)

Yeah I tried using the browser on my Slim and it just kept crashing, what a load of tosh!

I only wanted it for YouTube when off my PC and at the sofa, but I installed a homebrew app specifically for YouTube which works great. :)

I've been hooked on Pokemon Leaf Green lately, it's lovely playing it on the wide PSP screen though, fantastic games and such great memories.
