I mean I can understand people's trepidation owing to systems abuse and coercive behaviours from governments as well as the fear mongering (covid messaging was a great example). It could be misused...

However, being sensible one would hope that it won't be abused and that it'll be used based on your geographic location and on things that are truly necessary. However there's a big chance that it'll be ignored, just dismiss the message and get on with your life, because I think there's very little trust in any government system at the moment.

If we for whatever reason end up in a nuclear war a warning will do very little.

Things like flooding alerts I'm already registered for my area. If I lived in an area that had lots fire risks I'd register for that.

I'm not sure what the system is intended on warning people about. I guess for people like me not on social media to warn of stuff that's happening but you soon ignore the noise after a while.

I'm not turning it off on my phone but since my phone is off at night I wonder what happens in that instance?

Hang on a minute, I thought this was to test a system like elsewhere what on earth is this loud siren for ten seconds all about?

That just sounds like crazy town. Just hope I'm not driving at the time.

Especially when you've got your phone up against your ear.

can those who already have this wonderful system in their countries confirm if you also get loud noises coming from it?
I only remember texts from when I lived in NZ, I certainly don't remember ten second siren calls.

Then again my memory can be hazy. ;)
