I remember 30 odd years ago he was local folklore and he would only have been 28'ish.

Didn't know who/what he was but being told "Purple Aki would come and get you" put the fear of god into a 10 yr old....

That bbc article is a very interesting read. It's certainly helps you see a different side to things.
 
Always thought that this guy was just a bit of a weirdo/pervert, but seeing that docu and knowing he's directly responsible for a young lad's death and threatening to shoot a woman paints him in a pretty sinister light. I'm surprised he hasn't been sorted out by the locals after all this time.

They tried to at one point, there was a story a while back about him escaping from a load of tooled up men, not sure when this happen, think the late 80's or early 90's.
