Pyro Achievements and Unlocks...!

This update is horrible. As a medic, having 15 pyros come charging at your face isn't fun. I'm a sucky pyro, but a damn fine medic, and this update has pretty much ruined the next 2 weeks of TF2 for me. It's practically impossible to get an uber up, as there's always 5 pyros running round the corner.

The medic achievements were crap because it meant everyone was competing for the same heal target and now these achievements make it impossible to heal. So much medic hate :(

Nope, wasn't needed. I had no problems with the falloff, could have plenty of success as a pyro. I didn't claim instagib, but it's not far from that. As for heavies being hard still? Nah, they were easy to kill prior to the update aswell. You just circle strafe around them when close, and they struggle to get a lock on you.

The bad pyro players are probably quite happy with the changes, though.
 
Well, I was just playing as a Pyro a few mins ago and I get the message 'You have unlocked 3 new weapons' I go to look and I unlocked all the medic weps, I got all the achievements apart from the amount healed one. Gotta love bugs.
 
I really think valve are screwing the pooch somewhat with these updates. To me it would make much more sense to have them all available at the one time, that way people aren't whoring out just one specific class. Soon as medic updates were available everone jumped on the medic bandwagon, pyro the same thing.

If the rest of the classes had theirs all ready at the one time it would probably let people pick and choose a class to get the unlocks for. Might take a while to get them all ready for the public to start unlocking but it would lessen the headache of servers becoming acheivements farms for a few days every time a new set of weapons is ready to unlock.

You clearly haven't fought good heavies then ;)

They are still take ages to kill, even when you ambush them, with or without a medic.

Crits are another matter, of course if you're on a spree it'll make the effect worse. Soldiers, again, still take a while to kill due to their toughness whilst spamming rockets at you at such a close range that it renders the compressed air secondary worthless as well.

I'm by no means a bad Pyro player as I consider myself pretty good, but you need to be blind to not see that the class on the whole was underpowered.

I assume by 'alt-fire' they don't 'alt' and in 'ctrl-alt-del' (ie *** actual alt key), but instead mouse2?

yes

pretty cool actually, you can get a soldier to fire a rocket, then two pyros can 'blow' it back and forth. I had a game of 'air hockey' on the bridge in 2fort last night :D
 
Went on and it was teams full of pyros. Inevitable but meh :/

Might just be a sniper / heavy atm to kill them pesky pyros.

bought myself darwinia and audiosurf.. think I'll give this weekend a miss, and let it all settle down. Iirc, it took about a week for the medic craze to get *almost* normal.

People should either play properly, or go on a farming server. Here's hoping it's the spy up next.. and they make an actual face-stab weap :D
 
The alt-fire could offer some great things on other classes! Double shotgun bursts... Double/tripple rocket launches... etc...
 
Personaly i have mixed feelings about this update. Its good that they are giving more new weapons to more classes, but its just taking so damn long, i wish they updated more classes faster. Also this patch seems to have bugged me, several things have gone into wireframe mode for me, like i was playing 2fort and the door inside spawn, the basement floor, the desk the intel is on, and all water is in seethrough wireframe mode (except looking at the water from underneath, thats fine).

If i delete my game data and re download, it wont delete any of my unlocks i currently have will it? And even if i do end up doing that, im not sure if it will work as i just validated the game files and got no errors :/

Here's a good solution: find a server with a 4-5 class limit, that way the whole team won't be full of Pyros and people are forced to pick another class instead.

Specialattack I think, and some of the HH servers have this enforced, you'll need to look around to find any others though.
