Pyro Achievements and Unlocks...!

You can also set team mates up with Soldier+Pyro paired teams for long distance rocket deflect aiming!

You clearly haven't fought good heavies then ;)

They are still take ages to kill, even when you ambush them, with or without a medic.

Crits are another matter, of course if you're on a spree it'll make the effect worse. Soldiers, again, still take a while to kill due to their toughness whilst spamming rockets at you at such a close range that it renders the compressed air secondary worthless as well.

I'm by no means a bad Pyro player as I consider myself pretty good, but you need to be blind to not see that the class on the whole was underpowered.

Well if you run into a HW at point blank and he can hit you then you should die regardless :P

Fighting Soldiers point blank will be a lot easier now that they dont have their self damage reduction since they were getting 40% less damage reflected before last nights patch.

Another nerf for Soldiers :P I dont mind too much since Im a demo and I often kill myself with point blank grenade hits on other players :/

All the Pyro changes sound good apart from messing with the damage fall off :/

What's this about a killer taunt???

Steam said:
Pyro

* Added alt-fire compression blast to the basic flamethrower
* Added The Axtinguisher, The Backburner, and The Flare Gun
* Hadouken taunt now kills people it hits
* Tuned the flamethrower hit detection to improve detection versus retreating opponents
* Removed Flamethrower's damage falloff (was falling off to 25% by the end)

If you taunt while using the shotgun, the pyro summons a little ball of fire infront of his hands. This patch that ball of fire does damage.

How does it do damage? It's shoots off forwards? Or is the damage limited to right infront of him?

I really think valve are screwing the pooch somewhat with these updates. To me it would make much more sense to have them all available at the one time, that way people aren't whoring out just one specific class. Soon as medic updates were available everone jumped on the medic bandwagon, pyro the same thing.

If the rest of the classes had theirs all ready at the one time it would probably let people pick and choose a class to get the unlocks for. Might take a while to get them all ready for the public to start unlocking but it would lessen the headache of servers becoming acheivements farms for a few days every time a new set of weapons is ready to unlock.
Totally agree.

Are there any active TF2 leagues in the UK?

I used to love playing in TFC comps back in the day, but there doesn't seem to be much competetive interest in TF2.. Which is a shame. Could anyone point me in the right direction? I'm assuming there is a league hiding out there somewhere..

ETF2L
Wireplay TF2 League
ED League (kinda dead)

A few others..

What clan are you in?

Managed to do the Hadouken on a Soldier being healed taking out a sentry. The damage range is about the same as an explosive.

I got all 3 weapons today in about 3 hours and i love them all, good update imo, once everyone has stopped playing pyro it will be awsome :D

Heh I still haven't got a single weapon as a medic nevermind a pyro. Probably has something to do with the fact that I play engineer and scout ¬_¬

Got to say though Scout not proving to be very effective as of late.

Its a shame most of the weapons are pointless though. The flare gun is ok i guess for igniting a sniper or something long range, but i would rather have the shotgun. And i tried using the new axe, but the problem is (and will be for the next few weeks) is that everyone is pyro, and if you cant ignite anyone, then the new axe will only do 50% of the normal damage.

When more people start going back to normal classes though, the new axe can be quite handy if used right, although it will mean no sneaking up and axing people, as you will have to flame them then switch to axe which means they could get away before you swing the new axe.
