Hello all sorry if this has been asked i have done a little reading on the forums im looking for a cpu cooler for my Q6600 i was going to get a Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro but after reading here

http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17898492&highlight=q6600+cooling&page=2

Im a little unsure which cooler to go for
My case is a Lian-Li PC-7B PLUS II and i have a Gigabyte mobo DDR2/DDR3 Im looking to overclock at some point and the current cooler i have installed is a http://www.arctic-cooling.com/cpu2.php?idx=92

Both the cpu and the cooler have been lapped and the temps at idle are 47 degrees i haven't loaded the cpu up yet tho and that's a stock.

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

i think its standard intel pushpins

i would reccomend something a bit more substantial for a quad
my thermaltake V1 just about handles 3.3 on my q6600 g0 stepping.
i only need a rad - then i can WC it

moomoo44 - is your quad running at 3.6ghz on your AC7?

AC7 will be good on a quad to around 3.3ghz/3.4ghz anything more you will need something more substantial.. then again if you are only looking for 3ghz the stock cooler is fine

Mine is an after market cooler if you look in my first post :):):)

I think 47 degrees at stock with cooler and cpu lapped is high or am i wrong

what cooler would be next up from and AC7???

Thanks

Not currently, I've only been browsing and playing ut2004 for now (not the most demanding of games) so I've had it at 3ghz

It can go 3.6 with 65-68C at full stress small fft, though the case is probably doing most of the work. With all the fans on high, theres a lot of air to help the AC7 ;)

ah got you - that certainly clears it up

if you have the cash to spend - why not look at the noctua? its got a good rep
