Q6600 or Penryn??

Looking at getting one of the above....

The Penryn i'm looking at is the 9450.

I'll be clocking both.
The Q6600 seem to clock better, but the 9450 seem to do more cycles per clock..

What do people recon is better?

Q9450. 3.6Ghz clock equivalent to a 4Ghz Q6600 give or take, with a lot less heat.

Penryn's will be FSB limited so unless you go for an unlocked model you won't see the chips full potential.

470 FSB wall from a handful of early reports. Realistically you are looking at around 450FSB max though

450MHz give or take, so you would need a chip with a x8 multi for 3.6 and x9 for 4GHz or thereabout.

IIRC, No they won't. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I'm sure I read it up somewhere that only the 780i would support 45nm

The rumour is that Intel are witholding technical info from Nvidia that would allow it to work properly on 680i over a dispute about SLI on Intel chipsets.

Only dual core Penryn works in 680i boards apparently.
