Q9550 ES Testing (lots of pics)

Glad you got the non extreme version, (I hope) you will show us what kind of FSB we can hope to achieve with these, every other review ive seen has been with the QX9650.

Most people will be buying the non QX chips.

I'm guessing I'll run out of FSB on the motherboard first (Asus Maximus Formula SE). An FSB of 450 would get me 3.6Ghz, which all P35 /X38/X48 should be able to manage. Off to flash the bios and then start overclocking on stock cooling.

Nuclear doesnt recognise all SSE4 etc....still at stock 2.66Ghz. Now to overclock :D

I'm just getting familiar with the Asus Maxiumus Formula bios. The newer 505bios didn't like this chip at all. Had to go back to the 401 bios to get it to boot.

Seems that the NB needed a boost to get above 450fsb. Still plenty in this chip yet. :D

very nice, that would be over the 4Ghz mark for a q6600 with 1100+ on the ram :)

Seems its going to be our motherboards that are being pushed to get these chips over 4GHz, which i think we foresaw.

It probably just needs a few more volts to get it stable. It did 3.2Ghz with just a few tweaks in the bios. 3.6 was a bit more work. 3.8 should be doable on good air, over 4 should be easy on water. The motherboard will be the limit. It's all just an educated guess until I test it some more.
