Quad Core PC Vs Xbox 360?

I can read, I see a difference in the water etc in Bioshock, as of MOH-A, I did ask the Q other day if it was DX9 or DX10, never got info, but Google found info from game Dev's mentioning DX10 so I assumed it was.

Lost Planet and CoJ are a joke as far as DX10 goes IMO, esp former as a Console Port.

My last part was not towards you, just overall in this thread in the PC section.

As i edited my original post:

airborne = dx9
bioshock has dx10 features but theres literally no difference visually betwen the modes.

I have V-Sync off in BioShock in Vista 64, 2 problems though.

1) Rivatuner takes bit oif work to installl due to a Win update you need remove.

2) I need to turn OpenGL and Direct3D Sync OFF every reboot of PC, it dont keep like in XP, added to everytime I start BioShock I have to go and turn V-Sync OFF again in the Games Menu

I was under impression that DX10 was not all about new eyecandy but getting same or better performance with same or better eyecandy due to way it works the CPU and GPU.

DX10 card £350+
LMFAO, what are you smoking? The 8800GTS 320MB can be had for £176.24 from this website, and the 8600GTS (which is about as powerful as the X1950Pro but costs more and does DX10) is £111.61.

If you want a PC graphics card that's roughly equal to the Xbox 360 from a technical standpoint (and from visual comparisons I myself have made, especially in Oblivion) then the best card to put against it is currently the X1950Pro and those can be had for £70 from this website.

I'd check my facts sunshine, you're quoting £350+ cards but they're not cards that "just do DX10 and beat the Xbox", they're cards that do DX10 and absolutely obliterate the Xbox 360.

I had a Xbox 360 today on loan as my mate is selling for his mate from his dads store.

It really is ugly as nearly Ipod white, runs kind of hot and fans or HDD or Rom spinning DVD constantly is loud, not sure what part it is just know its a PIA.

Played Prey, FEAR, C&C T-Wars, Lost Planet, prefer mouse and KB for them games to be honest.

The original question was which is more powerful, a quad core pc or a 360. The answer is the PC. End of thread. :)

In terms of graphics quality a PC is better too... but console users somehow can't see that. :p

A friend of mine has a PS3 and swears by it. He thinks it is the best thing ever. He didn't believe me when I said the PC is capable of better quality graphics than his beloved PS3. He came round the other day and I blew him away with ETQW and Bioshock. He was shocked to see a PC produce graphics better than his PS3. My PC is not exactly high end these days either!

Your PC is more powerful in terms of MIPS and high end architecture, It's a more capable and versatile machine, With new hardware being released day to day the PC grows in power.

The 360 Has been developed as a purest gaming machine and does not hold the same versatility of a PC, It has some of the most focused developers and high end budgets for game developments, this makes all the difference.

i have both my quad core pc, and 360 i bought couple of months ago.

now i have my pc running again, i wish i never bought the 360, it was good when i didnt have my pc, but now... i dont think i will play it much at all.

and i just bought a years online xbox live too.

but i love my pc way way more.

probably have to sell the 360 very soon.

PC's will ALWAYS be better for gaming if you have the money to invest in a good machine. Games consoles are very cost effective though and easy to use.. the way I look at it games consoles are ideal for children and pc gaming is more adult orientated as it's much more expensive and a lot more technical.
