Quad Core PC Vs Xbox 360?

If you have a dual core pc with 2 gig of ram and a 8800/2900xt then its easy choice go for the pc version, it will look better with higher aa modes and af, but if you don't have one of those gfx cards i would get the 360 version.

PC's will ALWAYS be better for gaming if you have the money to invest in a good machine. Games consoles are very cost effective though and easy to use.. the way I look at it games consoles are ideal for children and pc gaming is more adult orientated as it's much more expensive and a lot more technical.

Not really you need both for the best. 2 out of the top 20 games of all time on Gamerankings are PC games. the other 18 console games are mostly adult orientated games too. Not that there is anything wrong with so called "children games". You can spend as much as you want on a PC but it's not gonna make much difference when developers are making games for consoles. As i said though. It's always pointless to say which is the best. Neither is but the best is having both.

Doesnt need to be, 360 can push out some great graphics, look at GoW, pound for pound a Xbox 360 and DX10 are close, DX10 card £350+ Xbox 360 system £250

A £70 1950 Pro can play BioShock so it looks just as good as the 360 version.

Now what?

Plus how is Xbox 360 & Dx10 close? Seen the Crysis Dx9 vs Dx10 video? 360 is nowhere near either.

Since it had a slightly enhanced Nvidia 7800 Beta card in it, I doubt it.

It was better than PC cards at time which were 7800 GT and GTX, then came 7900's and now 8800's, so you know the rest ;).

lol at all the people trying to pick my post apart.

I remember seeing valves survey and most of the guys playing cs have a pretty poor PC compared to what most of you would imagine "average".

Yeah there have been loads of great multiplayer games since CS.... none any where near as popular im afraid. If you look at the esports I dont see any sorry to say. Some are great but they dont have any longetivity and surely your not blind to this?

My point about a big back catalogue is considering the time its been out (a lot less then a PC :P) I would say it has a great selection available. Also I dont need to "tweak" settings to gain a few extra FPS which im also sorry to say alott of the guys who use this forum buy expensive rigs and bench mark it for the e-peen competition.

360 is <£280 as well and usually comes with a decent bundle of games as well so yes its great value for money. Also I would say playing an xbox/ps3 is more socially acceptible then sitting and playing on a PC on your own cant do that with mates in your room :p

** edit **

here ya go

Seems an average spec is

I have already said that like twice in this thread and many times in others, its near impossible as the games are not written for 1 set of hardware, like consoles have.

I still think a 8800GTX/Ultra is far better even if not used 100% optimally.

Hmm, this post dont make sence now as someone above has edited his and changed it totally lol.

I agree that consoles are better for certain games. Fighting games like tekken and I prefer driving games on a console also. Note though that I said consoles are better for children as you don't have to have any technical knowledge to use them not that the games are more childish on consoles. Personally I love PC gaming due to the all the customization you can do, player made MOD's are easy to obtain and you can edit most games yourself.

If you're going to swear by the Valve survey to paint a picture of what the "average PC gaming machine" is then you're going to have to also swear that the average PC gamer doesn't play many games at all since according to that survey the average PC wouldn't even be able to play games like Bioshock.

Is there even such thing as esports on console?

If you're going to say that old PC games aren't really a "back catalogue" just because it's an older platform and has almost unlimited backwards compatibility then I guess we'll have to scrub Xbox games from the Xbox 360 back catalogue and PS2 games from the PS3 back catalogue since they aren't originally for those consoles.

360 is <£280 as well and usually comes with a decent bundle of games as well so yes its great value for money. Also I would say playing an xbox/ps3 is more socially acceptible then sitting and playing on a PC on your own cant do that with mates in your room :p
Not only do consoles sell at a loss, and the games cost more to make up for it, it's a simple fact that you get what you pay for. PCs cost more because they do more and also because they simply have more grunt on most areas than consoles, by leaps and bounds.

As for what is socially acceptable, you care? You're on the wrong forum!

Again, I'd say they're CS players and not PC gamers. The difference being their PCs won't run a lot of new games and they seem to be content using their PC just to play CS, or they have a console for newer games.

well it looks a lot better but thats because its on my crt and higher res than the 360, think 360 is just 720P for bioshock, but deffo looks ace im just lacking good fps, and i had to turn a few options off, maybe because his 360 was on a lcd and there not as good as crt anyway, i mean detail on my crt and in the black areas was great but crap on his lcd with 360.
