Quake champions

I miss the old Quake 3 when a game ends compared to this. You stayed on the server until you left/kicked or idle timeout as each map changed. This you play once and spend sometime waiting on a new game. I love the feel of this game and wow playing DM6. Even though it has a facelift and feels quite different, quite strange feeling at home. It was bizarre how it felt like 1999/2000 for the game.

It is also bizarre all these lizards jumping about. Feels like something from Spider-Man. So many fond memories in Quake Champions so far.

Back along when I was talking to one of the guys from id they said that there were plans for catering to both the lobby and traditional community led dedicated server system so hopefully that hasn't gone by the wayside as I also find the whole jumping in and out of matches via the lobby system as in the beta unsatisfying.

Hmm, turn off vsync cannot hit targets from over 100fps... Turn vsync back on can hit targets consistently. Some strange things happening with the fps on vsync and huge dips but turning it off, it never drops below 100. Yet cannot hit targets.

People been saying for weeks that fps and netcode seem to be related somehow. Not sure what they are doing with the netcode but I suppose the point of a beta is to aid development.

I think QC is ok but to be honest I am enjoying other titles too much at the moment to invest time into a mess like QC. Will happily give it another go once the build is more stable.

The forums are like a merigo round too. Same topics and discussions rinsed and repeated. Its not quake! Yes it is? Oh no it isnt? Ehmergerd zoom damage! Where are the devs and why dont they post here?? Quad should be blue!

So on and so forth :p

It seems ever since the patch where V-Sync setting stopped working for me I've had poor hit reg and general inconsistency - there is a correlation between upload data and framerate but my connection can comfortably handle it even at super high framerates - its a lot of the reason I've not been playing lately even when I have a bit of time to play.

It was certainly nice that I remember before patch 10. I've been really enjoying the flow of the game. Feels like 1999/2000 again and Team Death Match. :D

That video doesn't take into account one of the biggest changes in online fps since quake which is matchmaking. His point is valid though and I have been saying it since I picked up QC, its SO familiar players completely new to the game will get utterly battered if the matchmaking drops them in with people that have played the previous games a lot, my hope is that new players won't meet those guys until they are ready.

Quake has always been a get better or die kind of game. This backlash is because modern gamers have systematically been fed dumbed down games that constantly reassure them with pointless awards and achievements in a bid to validate their so called skill.

The skill ceiling has become so low that game design rewards players for doing very little. Its the same mentality as schools not being able to tell little johnny he is crap at something so instead they rig the game to make him feel better than he is.

When these players get into a real skill based game they cant handle it. They cry and whine that they need SBMM.

QC isnt the problem here. The lame attitude of modern gamers is.

Surely not? https://bethesda.net/community/topic/60491/aimbots-active/4

I was on last night for quite a number of games and came across some crazy players, spawn, die, spawn, die. I eventually nearly ended up with -1 and saved myself with 2 kills with some of these crazy players.
Though some of these players were level 34 versus my 5.

Another thing that didn't make sense from last time with vsync from last night... Once I took vsync off I had better hit detection and was getting nice quick kills but so many things don't make sense in this game.

Last time when I done this I couldn't hit anyone with vsync off. Yet nothing has changed, no new updates. The only difference was my ping was in the 40s and 50s. Versus last time in the teens. :s

Its tragic but also extends well beyond games.

I've noticed it over the last 10 years or so at work - there is an ever increasing proportion amongst the school leaver aged hires that aren't ready for the real world - though those that are bright/switched on seem more capable and ready than ever so its kind of odd - I guess the internet has helped those that do have that ability learn/expand for themselves, etc. in a way they'd never have been able to do before.

Been hacks on qc for a few weeks now.

Never knew that was what it looked like and what they saw which now makes sense how they can see me before i came into view

Obviously visors perk is a 'legal' wallhack. But yeah, pretty much working hacks on QC for a while. No different to any other PC release.

Trouble is that it smears the genuinely good players and creates an air of suspicion around anyone thats good. Hacking is insidious that way. Its corrosive and really damaging to the game and community as a whole. Its one of the key reasons I moved to console gaming to be honest.

I totally suck on pads as my brain has had 20 years of mouse and keyboard. But other than the rare XIM user, the playing field is equal and if I get smacked down its because Im not good enough. I will happily lose all day long to genuine players.

But if you care to look into it you will see that paid hacking sites are a multi million dollar industry these days.

No way to get around it without really intrusive anti cheat software which opens up a can of worms in terms of privacy and data protection.

So now im a console pleb and proud!! :p
