Queen Elizabeth II has passed away - keep posts civil and respectful

They've actually closed it now. There are going to be a lot of loiterers in the area. Getting home is going to be interesting. That said, I think most people are going to try to join it Bermondsey-side.

Got a bunch of pics from king Charles visit. He didn't see much of the outside crowd down the bay when he came back out he did wave about and spoke to some children and some selected adults . Good to experience though

Obviously the Welsh paying there respects to the late queen Elizabeth II

There's confirmation Beckham's been in the queue all the way from the back. Never been a fan, but he's gone up in my estimation a rather large amount for just quietly doing things the right way and not using his contacts to get a fast pass. I've watched the stream far too much and seen far too many large groups that didn't look like they've come in together without a bag or coat or weary expression among them.

Making an exception for the coppers who all filed in, in uniform, yesterday. No Police have got time to queue this week.

There's nothing more British
Than forming a queue
It's the natural order
It's just what we do!
Others may scramble
Or ruck in a scrum
But we form a line
'Til our feet have gone numb

Maybe it's madness
Perhaps it's not right
But Brits all agree
It's simply polite!

I was reading about the uniform situation on another forum and according to them;

Military rules control you can wear the uniform if,

- Hold honorary position of command (Anne, Edward, William)

- Retired from the military (takes a minimum number of years to qualify for retirement). Timothy Lawrence Anne's husband), Duke of Kent and Andrew (23 years Navy listed as retired/reserve) and all the other retired military in the UK who would be at a limited list of functions like a State Event (there's a list of when a retiree can wear the uniform).

- Can not wear uniform if left the military before being able to retire (Harry)

So apparently Andrew has the right and under military rules to wear the uniform as he earned (32 years retired), and Harry can't.

Under order of King Charles Andrew is allowed to wear his dress uniform for tonights vigil and Harry is for tomorrow's night.

There is now a queue to join the queue. This has suddenly become hilarious.

And how many more will join that come 6pm with it being a Friday. They'll need a queue for a queue for the queue.

Which is why they estimate the queue might become 30 hours long as the weekend likely to be the biggest queues. Will feel sorry for anybody not getting in the queue before midnight Saturday if it gets that long as they will queue up all that time and still not get to see the Queen.

I knew it, how could professonal organisers possibly think ignoring 100,000 people was going to fix anything.

Just a few out of a collection I took

All to see an empty box too. No one with half a brain can believe that she's in there. 4 days straight of decomposition in a not refrigerated state, I don't believe it. An article claims that lead lining in the coffin prevents decomp, I'm calling BS.

If only a civilization had figured out how to preserve a body 5000 years ago..........

That exactly the point though, they've not said she's embalmed, they've claimed its lead lined, like some sort of vacuum to lower moisture. Would be easy to just say she's embalmed and be done with it.

So has the coffin been a decoy the whole time? Where's the real body - hidden in an Ocado delivery truck heading to Buckingham Palace?

At what point does the real coffin get swapped for this fake coffin? Or does it not get swapped, and the vault in Westminster Abbey is a decoy too?

Sorry, but this coffin-truther thing just sounds like a pointless conspiracy theory.

The primary evidence seems to be a belief that sealing the body inside the coffin with lead is somehow impossible, and therefore the body would smell terrible by now if it were really in there. I just don't accept that.

Edit: and the icing on the cake is that this is apparently for 'security' reasons. The Queen met hundreds of thousands of people during her time when she was actually alive, and yet having her real body in a room guarded 24hrs a day by a mix of soldiers, dignitaries and police is too much of a security issue?
