Queen Elizabeth II has passed away - keep posts civil and respectful

:( When they started singing God Save The King... gutted to think that's the last time it will be heard in my life with Queen in it and had goosebumps when they sang it without the word Queen in it. The piper amazing, everyone involved and the pallbearers my god you guys were amazing and not a weak knee during such a stressful role.

R.I.P Elizabeth Alexandra Mary (ERII)

That was, what the word, grand, in a respectful way. The traditions of everything are fascinating to see, all the details from the marching to the procession, the service, the locations. It's not something you can read from books and only can be seen and experienced. I don't even know her and got a little emotional at the end, especially with the single bagpie playing and walking away.

RIP.

Be off home shortly. How many sad people will be at the McDs drive thru? As it opened at 5pm
Why does going to McD make them sad? If they’re hungry and it’s somewhere to get food, why would you have an issue with them going there.

I’m hungry, if there was a BK near me, I’d be on my way.

I can't begin to think the effort involved arranging that with so little time. They all did the UK proud

Putting into motion maybe but the plan and anything that needed to exist for the event was done long ago. Just like the duke, the queen had input into her own funeral. He wanted to be slung in the back of a land rover and she chose something a bit different :p

What an advertisement for Great Britain. It makes me proud that no other country can put on such a ceremonious occasion. I can't begin to think the effort involved arranging that with so little time. They all did the UK proud

It makes you wonder if the coronation is going to be anywhere near as grand.

Tomorrow, a lady is laid to rest. Many will say she served her country for 70 years. She didn't. She served it for over 96 and I am bloody proud to have been one of her subjects. I have no objection to being called such; her sense of duty and, indeed, her steadfastness, far outstrip mine.

The ignorant and malevolent will try to paint her as imperialist and colonialist, ignoring the realities of what she - and her husband and consort - achieved across their lives.

We are living in an ugly time, with identarian political agitators determined to define us wholly by skin tone, sexuality or religion. That is, was, not MY Queen's wish and those who trade on 'my' truth, not the truth, are chaff, mere dust on the wind.

I remain unashamed of this country, and of being of this country. We far outstrip others in terms of equity and equality. Everyone here has the opportunity to be an equal and the person who led that, personified that, makes her final journey tomorrow.

I'll put my heels together and drop my head. Because a greatness has passed.

God speed you Ma'am. You were the best of things and shall continue to be so.
