The only thing I bought for my CV1 were cotton covers as a hygene measure - not for comfort. CV1 was very comfortable, but it did start to hurt my head after a couple of hours.

It's funny because I never had to buy any add-ons to make my Index more comfortable (except for prescription lenses, and I have to do that for all head-sets). I guess that's why it's three times the cost of the Quest 2!
Base price of the Quest 2 is amazing, but you really do have to price in the cost of add-ons. I've spent over £100 on front and rear VR covers and a battery headstrap for the Quest 2 which makes the index only twice as expensive.

Wireless isn't any good if you can't wear the headset for more than 5 mins.
I agree though, wireless VR is amazing and the Index cable is annoying.

There's plenty of ways to attach a battery pack. Don't have to buy the elite battery strap, lots of options available.

Indeed, I got an Anker 13000mah power bank and 3d-printed a mount for my halo strap. No idea how long it lasts as I've not managed to run out of juice yet but it's probably something like 6-8 hours.

Just fixed my original facial interface to the back of my original strap, so it cups the skull a bit. Managed to fix my battery pack to it as well. Going to give it a try. Wanted to try using the original strap as I was getting tired of switching between my mvhstudios one and the original for when my boy plays. Not sure when I'll be able to have an extended go (maybe Monday), but seems comfortable on first attempt.
i think my current halo strap needs some form of tensioner for the headset and some stops to prevent it coming off the side rails.
Mine seems to do about 2 hours without the external battery.
I haz ninja skillz though...
