Quest 2 accessories - recommendations, reviews etc

...
Having never ordered from AliExpress before, anything I need to watch out for?

My first time ordering from AliExpress too. The website is a bit :eek:, doesn't inspire confidence but I'm sure it's fine if you use a credit card. The strap is quite cheap anyway.

I ordered from SH Electronics Store. Turns out it's a Thai store but ships from China. I ordered last Friday evening with free delivery. Shipped on Monday and tracking became available today. Still in China. All ok so far :)

That's the same seller I was looking at, ~£27 including VAT. Was thinking PayPal is probably the safest option? AFAIK proper credit card protection (e.g. section 75) doesn't kick in under £100.

Oh, didn't know that about the credit card protection. PayPal is a bit of a pain to use here in Japan. I paid ~£16.20 exc. taxes for the strap alone in a bag (no box), so not a huge amount to lose if it is a scam. I'm sure it's fine though, reviews seem legit.

I think with free delivery the shipment time is a bit of a gamble, depends if courier can bundle with other shipments to the same destination etc.

I will post an update here if/when I receive it.

Sorry, didn't even notice your location! I guess completely different rules around import duty etc :p

:D No worries. I moved to Japan a few years ago. I created my account here back in 2004 (same as you but not as active :p) when I was living in the UK and into building my own PCs and gaming etc. Tax also applies here, just a lower rate (8-10%), but maybe within the personal tax free allowance so I may get away without paying tax.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to getting the BOBOVR M2! I tried everything but cannot get a stable fit with the stock strap so cannot do any gaming at all. So far I have only used the Quest 2 for Oculus TV and YouTube VR whilst holding it to my face with one hand and one controller in the other. Not ideal

I may get some prescription lens inserts as well if I use it enough.

Well, I noticed some cracks in my 5 week old Elite Strap last week, got in touch with Oculus Support who took until this morning to reply, and basically told me to get lost as I bought it from an unsupported retailer - OcUK.

Posted in the support forum and had a reply and RMA details within 8 minutes, so 10/10 customer service from OcUK (as always), 0/10 for Oculus!

Unfortunately, as it was bought b-grade there is no more stock, so it's going to be a refund and I need a new strap - having no confidence in the official one (or Oculus support), and looking through this thread, there seem to be a few options:

MVH
GOMRVR
BOBOVR M2

So far, the BOBVR looks the best, but delivery estimate is 3 weeks :/

There's also a "3XS" branded one which is on Prime delivery for tomorrow - anyone had any experience with it?

If possible I would like one which I can fit headphones over - it just about worked with the official strap. Failing that, I guess it's time to grab some decent earbuds!

I've grabbed the 3xs one, comes tomorrow so will let you know what it's like. I wanted the bobo one but I'm not prepared to pay the £15 Mark up on amazon and still wait 2 weeks. Just don't like aliexpress website and feel like I'm going to have too much hassle when it inevitably doesn't arrive. So 3xs it is. Looks pretty much the same as bobo and although there aren't many reviews compared to other ones on there all are positive after lots of trying of other brands.

Be nice to have some genuine feedback/review on it, like you say, there isn't much on there compared to others.

I ended up getting the MVH one from ShiWarrior, gave it a quick fit & test, and so far seems superior to both the default elastic and the elite strap (the integrated battery holder is a nice touch), but typically my little boy has been ill all weekend so I haven't had a chance to try it "in anger" (and now we have a heat wave coming, so will probably wait till it cools off a bit more due to sweatiness :p)

Received it today. No problems at all. So in total it took 9 working days with the free delivery option. Pretty good service.

The strap itself, much much better than the stock Oculus strap. Way more comfortable. Still needs a bit of adjusting to find the sweet spot as there are 5 possible points to adjust now, a lot of combinations!
The build quality is pretty good, looks nice. The padding is sufficient but very thin and soft so unsure about long term durablility but the pads are detachable so can be replaced.

I'm pleased with it so far. Happy I went with AliExpress, at ~£15-16 I think it's very good value.

Now join the Hangout thread and start playing games with your fellow OCUK members and not nasty strangers :p

I would love to watch my cable provider TV on my Quest 2. The app is Cox Contour TV (google play store) from Cox Communications. Is this possible??? Do you need to sideload Chrome to achieve this?? Any input would be really appreciated.

\if you can't get the app to work directly on the quest, then you may just be able to view the cox contour tv on the Q2's inbuilt browser.

What are those little headphone holders?

They're headphone holders.
