Been a while, after buying 8 quest 3 battery headset straps and everyone not working, are they now working or what's a good one to get now?
What? you tried 8 straps and none of them worked?

At launch there was an issue with them where they would work for a bit then stop working/charging the headset. There were a few big threads about it at the time on reddit and somewhere else. I ended up giving up in the end, I still have it and it doesn't work. Although to be fair I haven't turned the headset on in about 6 months so a firmware update might have fixed it.What? you tried 8 straps and none of them worked?

Interesting. All 8 elite headstraps were from Amazon. I'm pretty certain I'll be out of warranty now, I'll have to check my Amazon account. Thanks for the info. The problem you are talking about only affected the Elite Straps from Meta. This was solved after a few months.
There was separate issue with some AIB headstraps, BoboVR and Aubika, that they didn't use a strong enough battery in the first batch of straps they released. They fixed this very quickly.
If you purchased any Custom Head strap from December 2023 on, you should have had no problems. Unless you were just very unlucky and got old stock sent out to you 8 times.
Did you try 8 different headstraps or 8 straps from Meta?
methinks he's also experiencing the change in proximity sensor sensitivity causing the blackouts after a recent update.
FYI. I had the AMVR upgraded interface arrive yesterday; the one with the knobs on the side to adjust the depth. It is definitely tighter than the stock which pinches and in turn retains my glasses when I remove the headset!Having the AMVR interface delivered tomorrow. Hopefully it makes it much comfier when wearing my glasses.
Was going to order the Bobovr M3 Pro today, was in stock on Amazon yesterday, not today. Bums.
Damn. That's the one I've ordered. It's meant to be wider.....FYI. I had the AMVR upgraded interface arrive yesterday; the one with the knobs on the side to adjust the depth. It is definitely tighter than the stock which pinches and in turn retains my glasses when I remove the headset!
I've not used the headset for any great length of time and so cannot comment on whether it dissipates the heat better with prolonged use. It definitely improves on light leakage in to the headset, although I could still see a sliver from the nose slit. To be fair I will be using lens, if the damn things ever arrive, so suspect it will be tighter against my noggin.
Yeah. VR and glasses, which I'm sure must work for some folk, just does not work for me at all. I endured for a while with the OG Vive and ended up scratching the lens of both my glasses and that headsets. Once I ordered some lens, it was a vastly better experience and it meant I could have the headset lens closer to improve FOV.Damn. That's the one I've ordered. It's meant to be wider.....
Oh well. So until I get my eyes tested and lenses made, its either I wear glasses and am in pain after 20 minutes. Or, no glasses and can't really sea much .
I might just cancel it then for now.
Last time I has my eyes tested I was around -4 iirc, but with a higher than expected astigmatism.Yeah. VR and glasses, which I'm sure must work for some folk, just does not work for me at all. I'm long-sighted and have quite a high prescription, so it is actually quite difficult and costly to order to that specific prescription. I've ordered from Zenni, who max out at +6 (I'm +7 and +6.5) but I'm hopeful it will be sufficient.
I don't really get how immersion with that works. I'd find it even more distracting having something bob in front of me with an outline of the real world around the periphery.Last time I has my eyes tested I was around -4 iirc, but with a higher than expected astigmatism.
Other option is to go with a halo strap and then don't use a facial interface at all, just have the headset floating in front of your eyes.
I have considered it. But it seems like a weird way to play.

I have the Kiwi K4 Boost strap. Currently, I sort of flip it up and down with care using my glasses when I put it on/take it off.Do you have a Halo style headstrap?
Can you flip the headset up with the new FI?
