Quest 3 accessories thread

I never really got fog with my headset at all, other than when I happened to be breathing out through my nose when putting the headset on, not I don't think anything would solve that..

I'm a damp human being  always have been. Cars steam up when I'm in then, my bedroom always gets condensation on the windows etc.

As soon as I put the headset on it starts to steam up, its kinda ridiculous really.
My wife can wear it for a good while, doing a workout, ....... Zero steam.
Meh.

Done a good job there, in finding a working solution.
I've got the same router, not sure I will be in a rush to do the same.

The fan blends in well ;)

Probably just taking the top cover off and replacing the stock chunk of metal with something resembling a heatsink and fan may stop the thing from throttling. Methinks these 'gaming' routers may not be up to the task of VR streamage for prolonged periods of time.

Probably right, certainly not sustained throughput that VR can demand, in expecting a router to cope without additional cooling.

I've got a laptop cooling for tray, it has fans that blow upwards. IIRC it blows from the bottom up and through the AX88U when I tried it.

I'm always confused by this router talk.. I've had 4 different routers two of which were ISP specials.. and i've never had any issues with PC VR streaming.. always just works..

Admittedly my router is in the same place that I play VR, and is hardwired to the main PC..

Maybe i'm just lucky or unfussy..

Well this is basically why you have had no problems.

Some ISP routers have weak Wifi, or weak processors. This can cause issues when your router isn't in the same room or if there are lots of devices using Wifi. A better router can solve these issues. Also ISP routers can sometimes come with no gigabit ethernet ports. That really reduces performance.

Some routers have problems, like the TP-Link AX routers had stuttering issues with the Quest headsets when using AX mode.

But, unless you are very unlucky, Any semi decent Wifi router with gigabit ethernet ports that is hardwired back to the PC and in the same room as where you play VR will give you no problems. The difference in performance between Wifi 5, 6 and 6E in that setup will only be a couple of ms even at high bitrates.

6E allows you to run Airlink at a much higher bitrates - 500mps instead of 200mbs which is the equivalent of wired. That really only makes a difference in games like Skyrim where it can look very compressed and muddy, or in fast moving games like racing sims (where being wired isn't that much of an issue anyway).

The main advantage is the 5ghz spectrum can be pretty congested so if you have those issues then 6E at 6ghz will help.
Also the Pro controllers use wifi, and can be interfered with if your router is using 5ghz DFS channels. Using 6E avoids that.

But for most people Wifi 5 or 6 is fine.

I have my NowTV router plugged into my switch (2.5Gbe) I then have my PC hardwired to that, and then my house wifi is controlled by Deco's (3x x50's), the closest of which is sat about 1m away from the router, I've had no issues that have presented themselves thus far..

I've always used ISP issued routers with no issues, I tried a branded 6E router it made no difference so returned it.
