Quest 3 owners etc

Happy owner here! I usually am the type of person to have huge dead pixel issues. Sent back two steam decks for that exact thing, and went through 5 different ultrawides before settling on one.

Don’t want to tempt fate or anything, but my unit seems to be pretty spot on. I’m chocking up the tracking things to software, as a quick reboot fixes everything (maybe I’m just being picky)

It’s great!

I like the way I can use my finger to point and select things or make a fist and then drag the menu to any position around me. That's very cool. The pass through is grainy and things like my tv and phone screen look washed out, and any text looks blurry. But if I bring my phone, my tv remote or anything with writing on it really close to me it gets pretty sharp and very readable, if a little wavy. I'm finding it surprisingly comfortable to wear considering I'm wearing glasses. The strap isn't bad but I'm looking forward to changing it.

I literally only spent about 30 seconds in passthrough before i packed it away to be returned (dead pixels), i thought it wasn't as good as the various youtubers have claimed. I tried reading stuff on my phone, nope. But the lighting might not have been optimal, i've read it can make a difference.

Left mine charging overnight and it only gained 60% in 7 hours. it was in standby, turned it off and it charged quickly. Must have been something draining the power in standby mode, odd never had that issue with the Quest 2.

Anyone else have problems with the boundary? I have to keep setting it continuously as it says I’ve moved out of it even though I’ve been pretty much stationary :/

Not sure if it helps but i had issues with the guardian on my Q2 almost all the time.

I noticed that ts really situation dependant. If there is lots of stuff in the area, it needs to track and remember it all, so it anything is moved etc it can go a little strange sometimes. Even things like my cats walking through would sometimes make it go a little mental.

Why am I seen so many reports of dead pixels, is the situation this bad? If you buy the headset lets say from Argos can you return or exchange it with them should you have a dead pixel?

They did for me, no issues at all. I think there's three, maybe four members in this thread who have them. Reddit is full of dead pixel reports.
It's a shame as the lenses are really good.

don't forget those with issues will always shout the loudest. (tempting fate I know) but I have had 5 vr headsets. (4 from oculus/meta and one from HP) and none had dead pixels.
I have never posted (until now) that none of my headsets have been dead pixel free but you can bet your back teeth I would have been here posting about it if I did have one.

There is something weird going on with charging.
I was using a power bank yesterday that displays power drawn by devices and at times when plugged it it was charging at very low rate and sometimes not at all.
Don’t know if it’s a software bug or something else as unplugging and plugging back in sometimes helped and other times I had to plug it in the other way around.

How do I enable AV1 in Virtual Desktop?

Also, I was playing it PCVR in a game called zero something and it was showing me to press one of the buttons with the three lines to bring up the menu so I knew how to change something, however all that button did was bring up virtual desktop so I couldn’t actually progress the game. Any idea?

Also the VR P10s I’m very impressed with!

Ordered my Q3 512GB today from Meta. Expected Friday. Not worried if it is delayed as it will be an Xmas present.

Ordered mine on Tuesday from Facebookulus as well and it initially said 30th October but it’s updated to Saturday 14th this morning so should have it for the weekend!

Unless you plan on living with the headset on, and living through passthrough. I wouldn't worry much about it looking grainy etc. Once you start playing in MR, you focus on the game, not your surroundings. Soon as it's not the focus of your attention, your eyesight is pretty poor, and furthermore, your brain is doing most the work to fill in the gaps anyway. Passthrough is more than good enough for that.

Yeh sounds about right, agreed. I'm deffo looking forward to using some games/apps with it (if i can get a dead pixel free Quest 3!).

The Zenni lenses i ordered via the Meta website said shipping on or before the 10th, well just checked the order status now and it's still in processing, so they haven't shipped on time.

Yea’ my girlfriend tried it and was like “is this supposed to be really grainy?” Within a few minutes once she had blasted the lounge walls down and was shooting stuff she forgot all about the graininess and was loving it, smiling, laughing etc.

That’s annoying, I’m getting my eyes tested today and was going to put and order in. Hopefully yours get sent soon mate.

It's a great experience. My missus had a go and enjoyed it a lot too. Watching them jump on the furniture, and hide behind things so you have to go around to shoot them, is pretty awesome!

My Zenni lenses have been handed to FedEx are supposed to arrive on Thursday so hopefully you shouldn’t have long to wait.
