Quest 3 owners etc

Think mine is good for dead pixels, first of the 3 where it has been good! Will check again later more thoroughly.

I didn't even notice for a while on the Quest 1, although the 2 was obivous and got an immediate replacement from Argos.

I've had a brilliant idea. If I buy another one lol (3rd time lucky) but this time from very, I can buy now pay in 12 months. Then once the somnium comes out, sell the quest and pay it off.
Just need a stop gap as I'm without a headset at the minute. Even if it has dead pixels, it only needs to get me through the next few months.

Don't forget there'll be a few months as you send somniums back due to dead pixels though!

That’s annoying, I’m getting my eyes tested today and was going to put and order in. Hopefully yours get sent soon mate.

^ are quite a lot cheaper than the Zenni one's linked on Meta's site, @ShiWarrior has ordered them afaik. the zenni's came to £74 all in, i think the honsvr one's are iirc £43 all in.

That's why I got the CEO to put this on the website

I could do the same if my 2nd Quest 3 has dead pixels. It would effect resale value though as i'd have to disclose it has dead pixels to any prospective buyer.

That’s a nice difference! Thanks for the heads up mate. Would there be much difference between the zenni’s and the ones you linked?

Yeah, but wasn't it you that took the headset to Argos and the bloke couldn't see the dead pixel? Just because someone checks it, doesn't mean your supervision won't see it :D

The production facility are using special microscopes. It's not some poor bloke having to put them on his head. Although, I would be perfect for that job lol

i did do a quick google on the honsvr lenses, iirc there's not a lot of feedback on them but what there was seemed generally ok, but i think 1 person said the right eye lens insert was a bit loose or something. they are made in china. i think the zenni's are made in the usa.

why? no bugger else does
hmm maybe. i sell my unwanted hmd's on ebay and i'd be afraid of returns because of the dead pixels. but yeh even if this incoming Q3 has them, as long as they are not too obvious (the Q3 i've just returned, they were right in your face) i think i'll just stick with it.

I honestly think you'll be fine selling it on ebay. Just play ignorance. I mean, you didn't notice any did you?

Reddits literally full now of reports of dead pixels way worse than what we had. Some had five in one panel lol It'll be ok for a few months. Hopefully won't loose too much money.

Thing is though with Ebays buyer protection scheme, buyers can return things extremely easily for the slightest reason or even no reason. i've had it done to me and it's a PITA.
i'm not surprised there's reports of dead pixels on reddit. i've been using vr since 2014 i started with the oculus DK2, never had a dead pixel headset until 2021 with an aero.

They can, but you just hope they don't notice them. It is a gamble of course. I wouldn't say anything personally, and if they want to return you can always offer them a bit of money knocked off, or just take it back.

You wouldn't have to disclose it as nobody would see them..... unless you sold it to @TheOracle.

Oracle and I both have dead pixels in our eyeballs it seems. i do have "floaters" in my eyes as the doctor called them (i think many people do), where there's small debris floating in the fluid of the eye that you can see in certain lights.

Can anyone else see (perhaps?) the edge of the screens?

I swear when I'm looking straight ahead, I see a angled straight line going from centre too outside at about 35? 40? degrees. If I move my eyes to look at it, I get the shape of the lense, but whilst looking forward I swear it's a straight line. I've got the eye relief as close as possible, so it could be I'm seeing the edge I guess.

One of those things you notice when not doing anything, but effectively disappears when you're playing etc.
