Quest 3 owners etc

Battery dies way too quick, hopefully some 3rd party battery straps come out soon

Use some hairbands, elasticated strap, velcro cable ties etc, to tie a powerbank onto the back of the headstrap. I bought a £2-3 attachment that's just an elasticated strap basically, put it round the strap and tighten it around the powerbank. Doesn't fall out, but easy enough to slide in and out if I need to replace it. Obviously also means you can use any powerbank.

I keep larger powerbank in my pocket with the cable going under my tshirt.
Works great for me and doesn’t bother me at all, after a while I forget I have it connected.

I only went from 80% but USB A took a good few hours.
Just leave the Q3 on but in standby mode and charge using USB c. It then charges at full 18w speed.
From what I've read the passthrough mode is designed to charge the quest when it's on not totally powered off

wont charge in standby mode with dongle in

i think im going to connect it uses the official cable and official power bank, not the 20W one ive been using and see if it makes any difference, and no the Anker power lead and plug does not charge the quest 2 or pico 4 any slower

Quest 3 arrived today along with my prescription Zenni lenses handily!

I’ve set it up and left it charging/installing all my apps. Pretty impressed so far. Definitely a bit sharper/clearer than the Quest 2 and the field of view is immediately noticeably better!

No sign of any dead pixels or lens issues so far thankfully but I’ve only had it on for 10 minutes!

Will have a longer play later tonight/tomorrow.

Can’t believe Meta didn’t insist Yodel offer recorded delivery for a £600 headset though. The delivery company literally left it sitting at my house back door all day

my Yodel driver insisted he took a picture of me holding it

Given the cost of the headset I kind of expected that, plus ID and/or a signature to be honest. I noticed Amazon insisted on recorded delivery when I was going to order through them unsurprisingly.

Odd that Meta didn’t demand it from their couriers. Thankfully it turned out fine but it would put me off offering direct from Meta in future.

So while the lenses are EXACTLY the same, at least I’m not getting brightness flickering in Virtual Desktop so there is an improvement.
Just hope there aro no dead pixels as I haven’t checked properly yet.
hmmmm I will have to check if my pro is the same. I genuinely have not noticed it but I really hope it's not one of those things that once you see you can't unsee

I only see it when I'm looking down at text and ui elements with my eyes. Mostly visible on high contrast elements like white text on dark background.

There was definitely something wrong with the other one as I'm not getting any brightness flickering with this one in Virtual Desktop and that was annoying the hell out of me.

Excellent . I forgot to say I was using the official lead and charger.
At least we can now charge at full speed and it won't take a day to do it :)
The buds are excellent, best thing I've brought for it.
Just waiting now for a headstrap..hopefully some will starting appearing soon

Ordered mine on the same day so hopefully you shouldn’t have too much longer to wait.
Thx, did u get a tracking number emailed to you? I've received nothing other than an order confirmation email on the 28th, I don't think mine have been shipped yet.

Oh god just noticed that right lens has a lot more of that reflection/lens flare kind of effect on high contrast elements to the point it gets distracting on the new headset. :(
Also controllers triggers are a lot more noisy.

My head is apparently too thin , it was the case with q2 as well, if I'm in a bright room I see reflection of light from the sides. Thankfully my beard obstructs most of it. Need to add some foam to the sides to block it.

Another findings are that screens are more grainy on the new one and there is one dark pixel visible on bright background.
At this point I think I will return both and wait it out and hopefully in the future all those issues will be resolved.

I've had this also..solved it with the q2 by using a vr cover facial interface.
I'm Waiting for vr cover to release one for the q3..I find if I tighten the headstrap and move the headset I can virtually get rid of the light from the sides
