Quest 3 owners etc

Nope, nothing in the spam folder. However, when I try a random PIN number it says "Incorrect PIN. The PIN that you've entered doesn't match the PIN you created for your Oculus account. Please try again."

So yes, I must have set up a PIN a few years ago when I first made an Oculus account after I bought a Samsung Gear VR headset. And when I installed the Meta Quest app a couple of weeks ago, it found my old Oculus account and transferred it. Looking through my phone's saved memos, I found I saved a note of my Oculus password and email address but no PIN number.
I'd never had a meta account and it still came up with the same stuff, but I got the email to reset it.

Yeah, I got it sorted earlier by changing email address.

Quest 3 update. Body Tracking and Generative Legs.

Free stuff - body tracking and generative legs..... no thanks.

Comfortable headstraps and facial interfaces - get them from a third party.

Omg, I bought Red Matter 2 and it's incredible. The hype sure is real. Amazing textures right down to scratches on the flooring, windows and reflections, shiny blue floor paint, seeing earth in the distance, physics, jetpack, the attention to detail is astounding. I've just played about an hour of it so far and that was at 4am, lol. Also, I have a 25% off code for Red Matter 2 and Beat Saber if anyone wants them.

Are you playing direct on the quest or via PCVR?

Standalone. Someone on Reddit who had just started the game said "How is this possible as a Standalone?" and someone else said he couldn't really see any difference from PCVR. So I figured I had to get it as I don't have PCVR and I wanted something that really shows off great graphics. Also, only cost me £11 with discount and store credit, so bargain!

Sounds impressive! I’ll try it on PC and Quest, then decide which to play it on, when my Q3 arrives, it will now be delivered tomorrow! Bloody EE!

I'm sure it will be crisper overall with PC but from what I've read, there's not much in it. Took me a few minutes to get used to turning left and right as it does make you feel a bit woozy at first but then it's fine. Controls are great and intuitive. And there's so much detail of illuminated controls and buttons as you look down at your space gloves. It's really something.

I’m interested to see how it compares to Half Life Alyx, but I guess you haven’t played Alyx as you don’t have PCVR.

Yeah, I'd really love to play Half Life Alyx. Last time I played the Half Life games was many years ago on my old now defunct PC. Amazing games. Maybe one day Alyx will be playable in standalone.
I don’t think it will ever be available on Oculus, it is made by Steam, and the reason most people download SteamVR.

It really is incredible though, and has pretty low hardware requirements, I just got an RTX 2070 Super for £160 and it runs great on that.

Graphically it is similar although Alyx is better, and when you consider that this is standalone, that's really good. I did not look at the game style prior to purchasing, I thought it was going to be like Alyx, however although it is story driven has a voice in your head keeping you right etc and has great layouts, it's puzzles only.

So it is like Alyx, except (well thus far, and I've been playing for a few hrs now), there are no aliens or guns.

I've only played standalone, not played RM2 via PCVR.

Hi
Steam is a platform, Half Life series (inc Alyx) was made by Valve :)

Yep, this is why.

In fact Valve have reportedly blocked a Quest port of HL2 VR, presumably because they want to keep players on their Steam platform.

HL1 has a Quest port but that's only because someone managed to create their own open source Android port for phones.

It looked good on the Quest 2 so I will have to try it again on the Quest 3 sometime.
