Quest 3 owners etc

I'm tempted to pick up a Quest 3 today but wondered how was it for people who wear glasses? I have quite small glasses, would fit well in the Vive when I had it. I know you can get prescription lenses made but if I got the Q3 I probably wouldn't get them straight away.

I've got fairly wide glasses that were always a tight, and not overly comfortable, fit in the Quest 2. I've not had issues with the quest 3 using the supplied facial interface.

You'll be fine I think particularly as the face pad has four extendable positions away from the lenses. I'm at the furthest away so there's enough space for my glasses. I get some pressing on my nose on just the left side but I think that's down to my glasses being a little out of shape. Eventually though you'll probably want prescription lenses.

Well I bit the bullet and ordered, picking up tonight after work. I'll play for a bit as it is and then decide if I want to go for the prescription lenses. I was going to do it when I had a Vive but never got around to it.

Welcome to the gang! :-)

Have you used a Meta referral code yet for your new Q3? If not you should do so as you will get £23 of credit in the Meta store. But you must use the code on your Meta account before you turn on the Q3.

If you turn on your personal message option for this forum I can send you a code if you like, or you can message me.

Does anyone else have the issue that the four extendable positions for the face mask don't lock properly? On the right if pulled out to position four although it sounds like it clicks in the slightest pressure and it moves into position three.
Same on the left hand side but it won't stay in positions 2 or 3.

I powered off my headset last night and put it on charge. I disconnected the USB charging cable just now and put the headset on but didn't have to press the power on button as it was already on and ready to use. Does anyone know why it's already powered on after I powered it off last night? I read that it'll switch on if an update is ready but my software hasn't changed as it's still v57.

I think it can power on by itself whilst being charged. Anyone else confirm/deny this?

Looking for a new headset, currently have a Rift CV1. The Quest 3 looks on the face of it to be the sweet spot in terms of price and spec and should be a decent upgrade.

I'll mostly use it for PCVR games via Steam. How are people finding it for PCVR use?

One other question: from what I've read, when using a cable between the headset and PC, you need to use a USB-C connector. I have one on my case front panel hooked up to a Z790 board. Is that how I would connect it or would I need to use DP to USB-C cable to connect direct to the GPU?

Thanks!

you can play it wirelessly or via cable

you would need a good usbc-usbc cable if you want to use a cable

ive gone from Quest 2 to pico 4 to Quest 3

id say yes, its much better

Ideally what length of cable would be needed? What brand(s) would be considered good?

You need at least a 4m, preferably 5m USB cable.

You don't get many standard usb cables that length so it's best to get a cable designed for Quest.

However wireless is getting so good you can often ditch the wire with minimal quality loss. I have two different link cables and I don't use them any more as wireless works really well for me.
