Adj. 1. vitriolicvitriolic - harsh or corrosive in tone; "an acerbic tone piercing otherwise flowery prose"; "a barrage of acid comments"; "her acrid remarks make her many enemies"; "bitter words"; "blistering criticism"; "caustic jokes about political assassination, talk-show hosts and medical ethics"; "a sulfurous denunciation"

I think most of us have our own minds made up.

Of you? Yes.

Just wondering if these posts on BMWland are concerning your beloved uber reliable high mileage 5 series? here and here and how come you haven't asked the OcUK motors guys their opinions on your high mileage car?

To be fair, he didnt say they were uber reliable and is happy to admit they aren't the most reliable cars out there. :)

It's ok some people just can't help themselves. They think they're so high and mighty - it's all rather sad really.

Because he knew how you'd all react?

What exactly do you think you're going to achieve by posting that in here?

Theres plenty of questions and other things I dont post on here, yet post on other forums because I believe I will get a more detailed response from them as what I am asking may be the forums specialist area.

**** stirring basically. It achieves absolutely nothing but cause more aggression and animosity on the forums.

Did he? I thought he said 140k miles was nothing for a BMW. I must be getting confused :)

(I like Fox btw so I'm not slagging him or his car off!)

Yes, but it seems to have got worse over the past few weeks, for some reason.

I don't see the problem here. Fox did endless research before buying his car and he chose a high miler with a warranty. Due to this he's about to get a new gearbox, clutch and other gubbins for a few hundred quid, sounds like he's getting a good deal to me.

He did also state that he hopes a lot of it breaks so that he can get warranty work done on it - however I don't think he expected to have to pay anything for it ;)

indeed, usualy get a beter responce on specific problems from a forum about the product.

thats why I said he probably couldnt be botherd with the haters to post it. :(

Gearbox - being replaced under warranty - okay, that would be the BMW answer to most problems, simply replacing it. And that's for a slight issue changing into 5th....pretty decent of them

Clutch - he's wondering if it'd be prudent, NOT if it's actually desperately needed. Wow, that's certainly reason to have a jab at him isn't it? *sigh*

Propshaft - probably the reason why the gearbox as started to deteriorate slightly. These things happen - hell, I've seen cars have propshaft issues far earlier and after far fewer miles than Fox's car.

Lord knows Fox annoys me sometimes, but some of you really do seem to take it a bit personally.....

BUSTED!!!! :D

Mondeo - its the best car in the world didn't you know!
Old BMW 530 - its the best car in the world didn't you know!

This Fox guy is such an idiot at times. It's not about whether parts need replacing but him always trying to maintain a "image". Every normal person posts about things that have gone wrong with their cars or how the car's no good etc etc but he's always the same broken record about how great his car is, how nothing has ever gone wrong, look at me, look at me, how he made the best car choice in the world, how a BMW thats been to the moon and back is better than an 60,000 car, how not a single thing (that we know) failed on his old Mondeo etc

if you look on meg you see he had a few problems with the mondeo, but surely he is right to post in these places where the experts live

Yes. He has indeed been busted. How dare his car require ANY work at all? I mean, what with him ALWAYS ragging on people the minute they need a bulb replacing....oh, wait....

Definitely. But he could also have posted here that he had those problems ;) I think this is probably the one forum he is most active on, like it is for many of us.

quite

this thread can have a big  on me

there isnt even anything to discuss, the gearbox is notchy into 5th and BMW are replacing it under warranty. Nothing to do with reliability

Why post here where there are potentially more experts and less trolls in that forum? He needed help, not sarcastic quips ;)

Fantastic! :D

How sad, i don't see the issue, his car has problems so what, every car has issues regardless of age.

He's saved a packet by buying a car with 140k on the clock and has scored because it has a warranty so most of the parts are being changed for free.

If you offset the cost of the clutch and the prop against what he would have paid for a lower milage 5, that might of had similar issues anyways, you will see he is still well in the lead (Money savings wise).

Everyone on this forum who loves the car they drive is registered to the relevant owners club, myself included, i've asked about one or two niggles, does that mean each one of us gets a thread too?
