Questions - Diesel engine and transmission / gearbox reliability circa 2014-2019 -BMW - Mercedes - Audi ( on small hatchback or coupe models)

They are writing a deal

£16,799

Saving £250
reduced price £16,549

on the road price £16,549

They said they would chuck in an extra 12 months warrenty (so 2 year warrenty) - which i assume means servicing them or a bmw appoved specialist and only use approved parts to not void any warrenty for 2 years. . Extra 1 years warrenty is worth £509

total goods and services £17,058

they would give me £950 for my car part ex

amount to finance £16,108

I like the thought of 2 year warrenty, however, 12 months would have been ok with the option to extend,

Im "guessing" if they took the additional 12 months warrenty out the deal, then it would be £16799 (or maybe even £16999 minus my car £950) and id have a balance of £15849 to pay

so basically it sounds like they are trying to give me an additional 12 moths warrenty for half price.

Do i do it or just say can i have a deal with just 12 months

I would double check they mean the BMW insured warranty.
I do highly doubt so, though.
If it's their own 3rd party warranty then you lose the discount on the BMW insured warranty should you subsequently want to resubscribe after the second year.

I assume their additional warranty isn't the BMW one? They'll say it's "effectively" the same but it's not - it'll be some sort of Lookers warranty. Still could be worth having as long as the initial 12 months is the BMW Approved Warranty, but I'd probably just have the reduced price and extend it myself in 12 months with BMW.

That all sounds good to me - make sure you view the car first though as condition can be very hit and miss (regardless of the pictures).

Edit: beaten by mere seconds! Be damned!

Yep iv just responded asking if the additional years warranty is BMW warranty or a 3rd party warranty

Ill have a think there is two options, if you wanted to buy extended warrenty after the build in first 12 months, what would an additional year be, its either going to be i recon £250 from a 3rd party company, maybe £450 - £500 from BMW ?

12 months built in and the car deal at £16799 minus £950 part ex , leaving me a balance of £15849 would be ideal, otherwise its an extra £250 -£300

and yes it would be subject to viewing,

If the car is under 60k miles at renewal, it'll be about £450/year with £250 excess and breakdown cover with BMW (Comprehensive). Approximately.

Second year is rac platinum plus so 3rd party..

They didn't aswer my question on if I could just do the BMW 12 month deal only

Waiting on a response

Hopefully it will be up to scratch, get a deposit down on it if you can (it's refundable on viewing). It's very much first come, first served.

Ok I'll chat to them tomorrow about it.

If I go up there.. I'd obviously be focusing around making sure the engine sounds ok, turbo etc I'd want to test drive to make sure there are no power issues or knocking noises, but. They do a check on all this anyway. I have a Bluetooth odb app but I'd have to check.

Do they usually take you out and if I ask to show there are no faults after a drive showing up on a code reader ?

I'd have to get used to knowing how to do the auto stick..YouTube will be on soon

you've found an OK/economic non-telematics insurance ? and also happy about iphone/android connection
(I hadn't thought I would care about car play, but the additional navigation options are useful, even though you have usb music from apps nonetheless)

Insurance I may ride out on my current provider. I checked with them again today and it would be £66/mo, I suspect if I call them again I maybe able to get them down abit more.

Ill have to shop around properly when I get time as I am busy in work atm

Android /iPhone connection, I'll need to read up on, and iv not used idrive before , can I upgrade the idrive ? Either ask them to do it or I can do it via a laptop I can see on YouTube

Iv had non idrive models before
