Hey guys,

I've been offered a complete new set of tyres for my CLIO 182 Sport.

The options I have is

1. 4 x budget tyres for £100 including fitting

2. 4x branded tyres for £160 including fitting

I'm not sure of the brand but I can find out. The tyres on the car atm are not road legal so I need to get it done. Just paid £130 for car tax too :(

Both sets of tyres have 90% of their life in them.

The cheapest decent tyres I would use are T1-Rs at £62 + fitting from Camskill

Edit// or they are £48 if you go down to a 195/45

Part worns, epic. Nice move buying a car that you can't afford to run.

I've been told that it's crazy to buy new tyres if you actually have a good contact. Why buy new if you can buy a part worn tyre that you know have good tred and are from a reputable seller? It's not like I'm going to buy a tyre with no life in it. No need for the condescending sarcastic tone either.

That's why I'm asking. Budget tyres obviously out of the question now. If the branded tyres are any good I'll be considering them. Otherwise I'll have to get some Michelin PE2's.

Just buy a new set of decent tyres, you don't have to go for PE2s either, there are lots of other cheaper reputable options.

lol at how judgmental some of you are. I have never claimed to know a lot about cars and I don't. I just enjoy driving and am learning as I go.

I had no idea that putting 4 budget tyres on the car would make such a significant difference. Now I do know and am NOT going to put budget tyres on.

Thanks maccy.

part worns are often a false economy. if you are paying half price for tyres with 4mm of tread on them, you are only getting half the tread if not less when you think the absolute latest you legally need to change it is at 1.6mm. plus the hassle of changing tyres twice as regularly, not knowing the history of the tyre and the cost of fitting each time. I really can't see it being worthwhile given the cost of new tyres in your size.
